UPANISHAD GANGA
Upanishad Ganga Page 1
After a long gap of almost two decades, Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi returns to
the small screen with 'Upanishad Ganga'. Dr. Dwivedi, who became popular in
the early 90s through the serial 'Chanakya' telecast on Doordarshan, makes an
impacting comeback with this new series that will introduce the viewers to
Indian thought and philosophy. 'Upanishad Ganga' will be telecast on
Doordarshan, 11th March 2012 onwards every Sunday from 10 am to 10:30
am. As Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi believes, 'Upanishad Ganga' is not just a
serial, it is an expression of Indian culture and wisdom. It portrays the perennial flow of Indian thought in audio-visual medium.
This endeavour of making this Ganges of the subtle and lofty knowledge of
Upanishads flow through visual medium has been undertaken by Chinmaya
Mission. H. H. Swami Tejomayananda - Head of Chinmaya Mission worldwide,
conceptualized 'Upanishad Ganga', with a vision of taking this knowledge to
the masses. Many Acharyas of the Mission and Chinmaya International Foundation (the research wing of the organisation) worked for four years on
building the ideas for the serial. Chinmaya Creations - the creative wing of
Chinmaya Mission, is the producer of the serial. The script has been written by
Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi and Farid Khan, giving it a concrete shape.
Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi is a unique director who takes great interest in
the ancient cultural history of India. He has also given to the people of this
world, the National award winning Hindi movie called "Pinjar" which is based
on the famous novel by Amrita Pritam by the same name, which talks about
the pain caused due to the India-Pakistan partition. He has also directed
another Hindi movie called "Mohalla Assi" based on Literary award winner
Kashinath Singh's "Kashi kaa Assi", which will be released this year.
In this new creation 'Upanishad Ganga', the subtle knowledge of the
Upanishads has been presented through interesting stories, to make it
extremely simple and effective on TV. These stories contain inspirational
incidents of various ancient and historical heroes of India, such as Yaajnavalkya and Daara Shikoh. This serial will be at once engrossing,
elevating and enlightening for the common TV viewers.

Ganga'.
