Welcome! The University of Louisville On-Campus Housing Office looks forward to your arrival. We hope you are as excited to be moving into the residence halls as we are about having you as a resident! Summer is always an exciting time around here but not as exciting as that first weekend when everyone moves in. We strongly recommend you check your assignment in case there have been any changes. We perform many room changes throughout the summer to accommodate room change requests and to consolidate available spaces. You can check your room through ULink by choosing the Student Services tab. Go to the middle column and towards the bottom you'll find a box labeled "Personal Information." There you'll find the link called "Housing Roommate Search" where you will find your room assignment and roommate's name. Once you find your roommate’s name, you can search for them using your Cardmail account and send them an email introducing yourself.” We look forward to your stay with us and are extremely excited for the new school year. We will have lots of fun activities planned for you during move in week and all throughout the year. GO CARDS! Sincerely, SUMMER 2014 THE MOVE IN COUNT DOWN HAS BEGUN! ARE YOU READY? WE ARE! If you have extenuating circumstances that require check in after August 29, please contact the Housing Office that manages the hall in which you will be residing.

Contacting your

Roommate via ULink

Start your roommate relationships off with a friendly email to begin getting acquainted before arrival. Ask questions and think green while deciding who will bring the TV, computers, etc. You might discuss room arrangements, is he/she a night person or a morning person and what kind of music does your roommate like?

Cancellations: Please refer to the full cancellation policy. IMPORTANT: From August 1

st to the Friday of the first week of class the penalty fee will be

$1500. After the Friday of the first week of class the penalty fee will be the full fall semester plus $1500. It is required that you cancel via the online cancellation form. Please feel free to contact either the Housing Offices email at [email protected] or visit the housing website if you need further information.

ASSIGNMENT CHANGES

Should you like to make a change to your current room assignment or go on the wait list for a currently full building, please fill out the Room Change Request form. Changes are made according to availability. Not all requests will be accommodated and we will not start processing changes until 3 weeks after move in.

To pay the Bursar, you can pay in person at the Bursar's office, pay online or mail in a check (made out to University of Louisville with your student ID number in the memo line). Please keep in mind the university has deadlines for when your student account has to be paid and will assess a late fee if you still have a balance on your student account.

UofL Health Services Important Information Regarding Meningitis

Vaccines and Health Checklist Form UofL Health Services provides two very important documents you should read through prior to your move in. Please take the time to review both documents. Any questions regarding these topics can be directed to the University of Louisville Campus Health Services Office.

Meningitis Vaccination Information (pdf)

Important Healthcare Readiness Checklist (pdf):

Beginning Fall 2014 all new first year students will be required to provide proof of routine childhood immunization. A standard state immunization form completed by your physician is generally all the documentation you will need to provide in addition to the:

Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Questionnaire

Winter Break Note: The Suites and Apartments do not close for the winter break. Therefore residents who live in these halls are able to remain over the holiday. Regardless of whether the hall remains open or closes for the break, students may leave personal belongings in their room if they are returning to that room for the spring semester. Housing cannot be responsible for damage or loss that may occur. NOTE: Students living in the halls that close for break will not be able to get into their rooms once the hall closes. They should plan accordingly on what to take with them. Students, who anticipate that they will receive a room change during the break, may want to remove all their items before leaving for break. Suites and Apartments: Bettie Johnson Hall, Billy Minardi Hall, Community Park, Kurz Hall, Louisville Hall, Med / Dent Apartments, and University Tower Apartments

Borrow a Bike Program

ULH, Inc. offers a “borrow a bike” program called Reduce, Reuse, Re-“CYCLE”. New and used bikes are available for all on-campus residents to borrow every day to ride to class, or just to view the beautiful city of Louisville. Bike check outs are available 9 am-10 pm. Go to the front desk of Community Park, Bettie Johnson Hall, or Kurz Hall for more info.

Keep up with what’s going on in housing. FAN us on FACEBOOK for immediate up to date info on events

A few things to know about your room:

Some halls have windows that don’t open and the air conditioning/heating units are set on a

standard temperature. You may find having a small fan helpful if you like things cooler than the

pre-determined temperature. Other halls have self-controlled thermostats in room.

If your window is operable, please turn off the air conditioning/heating unit before opening it.

All halls have full fire suppression including sprinkler and smoke detector systems as well as fire

alarm systems that report to our Campus Police. These systems are in place for your safety;

please do not hang anything from them or try to adjust them in anyway. No change in systems

was made this year since they are all updated.

Students have the responsibility to protect their belongings by maintaining proper renters

insurance. The University/ULH Inc is not responsible for damage to a student’s belongings. We

strongly recommend that you review your homeowner’s insurance policy and/or purchase

renter’s insurance to cover your belongings in the unlikely event that damage occurs. Two

examples of companies that provide insurance to protect student belongings while on campus

include Sallie Mae and NSSI. For more information about renter’s insurance:
