    Unwonted Memory

I woke up early that day. I had cold sweat dripping all over by body. I saw a

girl took her own life right before my eyes. A girl with long blonde hair and with a

pair of mysterious peridot eyes I had never seen before. A face so vivid and it

seems I couldnt get her out of my mind. It was an unwonted memory.

Then a knock on my door startled me. It was mum. Its time for school. By

then I realized it was raining heavily outside. Why didnt Inotice it before? After

that wake-up call, all my senses had gone numb. I hurried to the toilet and stole a

glance on the mirror. It bewildered me as I had an ashen face. I tried to regain myinsanity while taking a shower. Slowly, I felt relieved and satisfied.

Even after I put on my uniforms, it was still gushing outside. My mind spoke.

This day is a day that I would like to miss. Quickly but steadily, I headed

downstairs. Skipping breakfast is a common thing and I took an umbrella inside

the stair cupboard. Just like Harry Potters room in his relatives house.

My feet splashed the flooded water. I walked slowly to school on the paved

road. Then, there she was again. The girl passed in front of me at the junction. I

rubbed my eyes many times, and started tailing her. That peridot eyes really could

entice anyone who had seen it and I was one of them. Suddenly, she halted andlooked straight at me. My heart skipped a beat. Now, she knew that I was

following her. I had a thought that maybe I should run away. Little did I knew, my

feet arent listening to me! It is like it was stuck in a hard concrete!

She looked at me for a long time and unexpectedly she smiled. What a

heavenly smiled she came to me and asked, Are you on the way to school too?,

almost like a whisper. I replied, Yes, I am. My school is just around the corner. Its

Greenwood High School. Well mine is Chesterfield High School. Its a bit far from

    here.

Bluntly, I asked her, How come I have not seen you before? She just smiled

and avoiding my questions. Strangely, I noticed what she was wearing. A long

knitted blouse, checkered pattern dress and an old gas mask box on her side,

almost like in the 1930s from World War II.I looked at my watch and its way past eight oclock. No way! I was late for

school. I said bye and ran as fast as lightning to school. Sure enough, when I got

there Mr. Woods was already waiting for me with a frown on his face. He ordered

me to run 5 laps around the field.

In class, what a din when all the students gathered together. My friend,

Robert kept begging me to follow him to ton after school. But I just said that I was

not feeling too well and sick. Later on, he did stop bugging me. I could not

remember what class it was but Im sure its Physics. That was the time when I

looked at the window and for a short time I saw that girl again in the middle ofthe field. I was in utterly shocked and accidentally knocked my table. All the

attention is diverted towards me. I heard their whispering and gossiping about

me. My next move? I just sat down quietly.

The bell rung, for the first time in my life, I felt school was a bunk! It rained

again just like this morning. I made my way towards home and deep inside my

heart I wished that girl will somehow magically appear. She did. But she was

slowly heading towards the busy road. Without thinking, I dashed for her and

    everything went black.

My eyes opened and all I saw was a fan spinning on the ceiling. My blurryvision started to get better. I realized I was in the hospital. A sharp pain struck my

head. At the corner of the room, I saw my mom looking agitated while talking to a

    doctor.

She was delighted to see my face and quickly hugged me tight. Suddenly, I

remembered the girl. What about the girl? I asked. Mom looked puzzled, What

girl? The entire car drivers saw is you. You blatantly ran out from nowhere and

got into an accident. Luckily, it was not that serious. Thank god, that god has given

you a second chance you know.

That was certainly not the answer I hoped for. Maybe that girl did not evenexist! Maybe all this was just a dream! One thing is for sure it was an event that

had embedded in my life forever. A girl with peridot eyes, you certainly make me

wonder whether you are real or just my imagination after all. Yes, Ill say it again

    you are the unwonted memory.
