Compression fittings shall be filled with an oxide inhibiting compound prior to despatch from themanufacturer with the ends temporarily protected. The quantity of oxide inhibiting compound shall besufficient to ensure the integrity of the fitting.Where grease is used as an oxide inhibiting compound, it shall be of a neutral soft type with a highmelting point and shall be in accordance with the requirements of Section 11 of this Specification.9.5 Installation riteriaThe manufacturer shall provide comprehensive instructions in a suitable format covering the selectionand installation of the fitting, including the installation- torque of any bolt, compression die sizes anddirection of compression. Installation instructions shall include directions for the use of any additionalmaterials to the fittings, including the selection of such materials and the conductor preparation.Joints and .connectors intended for the restoration of electrical and the mechanical properties of aconductor, shall have clearly defined manufacturer s instructions as to the extent of the damage whichthey are intended to repair. After installation, the resistance any joint or connector shall not exceed 75 percent of the resistance ofequivalent conductor. The Contractor shall keep a record of the joints and connectors used showing thelocation as well as the resistance of the joint.9.6 Quality ontrol9.6.1 GeneralAll fittings used for this project shall be type tested. Type test report shall be submitted for review of theOwner/Engineer. Sample and routine tests shall be undertaken as appropriate on the conductor andinsulator fittings in accordance with the requirements on this Specification and IEC 61284. Referenceshould also be made to clause 8.6.1 of this Specification for details of the test requirements for completeinsulator sets. The Contractor shall submit details of his test programme and procedures. This is a Hold Point. Details oftype and sample tests are summarised in Table 9.1. Cost of type, sample and routine tests shall be deemedto be included in Contract price.Three samples of each fitting shall be subjected to the type tests. One sample of each fitting, subjected tothe visual examination, dilnensional, materials and finish and corona (if appropriate) type tests, shall beretained by the manufacturer for comparison with the production fittings.9.6.2 Suspension lampsVertical damage and failure load type tests shall be undertaken in accordance with clause 11.4.1 MethodB ofI 61284.Acceptance criteria: After the completion of the damage load test, the clamp shall be stripped down andvisually inspected for crack(s) and deformation(s). The clamp shall be free from crack(s) and anydeformation that would affect its functional operation.Conductor slip type tests shall be undertaken generally in accordance with clause 11.4.2 of IEC 61284,except as the following details:1 Suspension clamps shall be fitted with armour rods;2 A minimum slip load of equivalent to 5 percent of the conductor s minimum rated strength
