    U t i d R i f t i PT Sl bUn-tensioned Reinforcement in PT Slab

  • UN-TENSIONED REINFORCEMENT IN PT SLABAt Columns Locations

All flat slabs shall have minimum un-tensioned TOP reinforcement at column position .Thi i i f i f h ld b This minimum area of reinforcement should be at least 0.075% of the larger gross concrete cross sectional area of slab beam strips in the two sectional area of slab-beam strips in the two orthogonal equivalent frames intersecting at a column.

Typically 16 bars are used for this purpose.

  • UN-TENSIONED REINFORCEMENT IN PT SLABAt Columns Locations

o This reinforcement shall be concentrated between line that are between line that are 1.5 times the slab depth either side of the depth either side of the width of the column.

  • UN-TENSIONED REINFORCEMENT IN PT SLABAt Column Locations

o The reinforcement should extend at least 0.2xL from the face of the column. Where L is the clear span between this column and the adjacent columnbetween this column and the adjacent column

  • UN-TENSIONED REINFORCEMENT IN PT SLABAt Slab Edge Un-tensioned reinforcement should be placed

l dalong edges This should include U-bars with at least two

longitudinal bars at top and bottom longitudinal bars at top and bottom. Typically 12 bars are selected for this purpose.

  • UN-TENSIONED REINFORCEMENT IN PT SLABTemperature & Shrinkage Reinforcement Temperature and shrinkage reinforcement is

i d h th i i required where the average precompression is below the value allowed by code.

This reinforcement is provided by providing a mesh reinforcement as follows:mesh reinforcement as follows:

For PT slab 300mm depth Top mesh & bottom mesh shall be providedbottom mesh shall be provided

For PT slab < 300mm depth only bottom reinforcement shall be providedp

  • UN-TENSIONED REINFORCEMENT IN PT SLABShear Reinforcement Shear reinforcement in PT flat slabs, if required,

i id d i f f ti t dis provided in form of stirrups or studs.

  • UN-TENSIONED REINFORCEMENT IN PT SLABOpenings Reinforcement Reinforcement around openings is required

    h l b i i twherever a slab opening exist.
