The hotel’s 21 Victorian bedrooms and 5 suites are designed to reflect the Victorian heritage of the original building, which was completed in 1860 as the headquarters of the Ulster Bank. Velvet throws, silk curtains, silk voiles, antique and bespoke furnishings and original works of art all complement these gracious rooms.

The Great Room Restaurant is situated in the heart of The Merchant Hotel; an AA Rosette awarded restaurant and an architectural gem with a myriad of original features (including our stunning glass cupola and extravagant plasterwork), The Great Room is home to our fine dining restaurant. Renowned for its iconic afternoon tea, guests can also enjoy a full Irish breakfast, lunch and dinner in this sumptuous space which is also available for private hire.

The multi-award winning Cocktail Bar at The Merchant Hotel boasts a cocktail list of biblical proportions which ensures that the diverse tastes of all cocktail connoisseurs will be met! We also offer a simple yet elegant all-day menu featuring such classic dishes as the club sandwich and a delicious Caesar salad.

No visit to Belfast would be complete without visiting a good pub! Fortunately, guests and visitors need look no further than The Cloth Ear, our welcoming and cosy pub, the perfect place to relax.

The Art Deco styled Berts Bar is Belfast’s only dedicated Jazz bar and restaurant. Enjoy live jazz 7 nights a week, a wonderful bistro style menu and an extensive drinks list.

Getting to the city couldn’t be easier as Belfast is only two connections away from anywhere in the world.

We have 2 airports and several sea crossings from Scotland, England and Wales. You can now fly direct to Belfast from over 20 European countries. Dublin Airport is 90 minutes away with excellent rail and road access to Belfast.

The world-famous basalt columns of the Giant’s Causeway continue to draw huge crowds. It’s the 2nd largest visitor attraction in Northern Ireland and the country’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was recently named as the UKs Best Heritage Attraction.

You can step into some familiar territory and marvel at the spectacular locations from the hit TV show – discover the Dark Hedges

(Kings Road), Balintoy Harbour (Iron Islands), Dunluce Castle (House of Greyjoy), or even have an archery experience at Castle Ward (Winterfell). Or why not get into costume at a medieval banquet or meet the Direwolf Dogs – all within 40 minutes drive from Belfast.

A DAY IN BELFAST

A Black Taxi Tour takes you around the areas of North and West Belfast to see the murals and write your own message on the peace wall. Have your lunch in The Cloth Ear, (our cosy pub) and enjoy your first pint of Guinness. Enjoy a visit to Titanic Belfast, Europe’s Best Tourist Attraction. This interactive museum includes a Shipyard Ride, an immersive journey through the social classes and rooms on board and high definition footage of the wreckage.

Enjoy some free time to discover the vibrant, cobble stoned, Cathedral Quarter, which is right on your doorstep.

Day Two Take a leisurely walk or more adventurous jog along the Lagan Tow Path taking in the Big Fish, newly extended Waterfront Hall and the Beacon of Hope – back to the hotel to enjoy a full Irish breakfast in the sumptuous surrounding of The Great Room Restaurant.

VISIT THE SCENIC NORTH COAST

Enjoy a full day tour of the North Coast and Giant’s Causeway.Travel along the Causeway Coastal Road, (named as one of the top 10 coastal roads in the World) via Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and onto Bushmills Distillery for a private tour before visiting the famous basalt columns at the Giant’s Causeway.

Pre-dinner drinks and a tour of the Queens Drawing Room before a ‘regal’ dinner in the Throne Room.

Day Three A visit to the gymnasium on the 6th floor of the hotel with magnificent city views followed by the healthy option on the breakfast menu.

GAME OF THRONE’S DAY

Private Tour of Mount Stewart Gardens, named as one of The Top 10 Gardens in the World by National Geographic followed by a guided tour of the house. A short ferry crossing takes you to an area of outstanding natural beauty and onto Castleward which has 20 different Game of Throne film locations within it’s grounds, including Winterfell’s Castle. Dress up in character costume and enjoy a medieval lunch, followed by archery and the thrill of firing live arrows at White Walkers! On your return to the hotel, take time out to relax and unwind in our tranquil Spa at The Merchant Hotel.

Your farewell dinner this evening is an 8 course Titanic Tasting Menu served in the iconic setting of The Great Room Restaurant. The menu takes its inspiration from the dishes served on the famous White Star Line Ship.
