NOTE: This fee will only beimposed once per academic year.DETERMINING COURSE CREDITFor external programs, transfer credit is accepted from accredited US universitiesand colleges, foreign universities with which UGA has an exchange partner relationship, and study abroad programs operated by UGA study abroad affiliates and consortia.

For other cases, OIE will determine whether or not to accept the credit on a case-by-case basis, in close consultation with the Office of Admissions and appropriate departments and colleges on campus, based on available informationregarding the institution’s academic standing generally and within specific disciplines. Transfer credit from a 2-year college will not be accepted above the2000 level.FINANCIAL AID AND STUDENT ACCOUNTSInformation on student financial aid and study abroad is available at:

http://www.uga.edu/osfa/studyabroad.htmlFinancial aid, including the HOPE scholarship, will be awarded based on thenumber of credits in which you plan to enroll (listed under number 5). Pleasemake sure this number is accurate or you could be asked to return some of themoney you received. For some types of financial aid, there is a minimum credithour requirement. This does not apply to the HOPE scholarship, which carries nominimum credit hour requirement.

If you are attending a Georgia HOPE eligible institution, your Georgia HOPE willbe disbursed by the HOST institution. In addition to the CAF, you must completethe Georgia HOPE Transient Agreement located at the following URL:

http://www.uga.edu/osfa/hopetransient.htmlPlease follow through with the Georgia HOPE Transient Agreement as soon aspossible so that you will receive your scholarship in a timely manner.

UGA Financial Aid will determine continued HOPE eligibility. UGA FinancialAid will issue any federal aid (i.e., Pell, loans, etc.). Such other aid will be disbursed by UGA following processing of the CAF. Student Accounts will disburse your financial aid check to the permanent home address OR directdeposit as per your student financial aid profile as listed on OASIS. The disbursement will take place 10 days prior to the study abroad program or UGAsemester start date, whichever is later. It is recommended that you confirm thedisbursement date wth Student Accounts and financial aid award with OSFA.

INTERNSHIPS ABROADInternship credit will only be transferred to UGA with an accompanying letter ofapproval from the head of the department or program at UGA accepting thecredit. Please attach that letter to this form.CHANGING AND DUPLICATING COURSESIf you change courses before departure, you will need to complete a new CAF. Toreceive credit, courses taken overseas must not be duplicates of courses alreadycompleted. Notify OIE if you change the number of hours taken abroad as thismay affect your financial aid.KEEP GOOD RECORDS OF ALL PAPERWORK AND COURSEWORKFinal decisions regarding transfer credit will only be made upon receipt of transcripts indicating successful completion of courses. Consult with your academic advisor once transcripts have been received and processed byAdmissions to be sure that your courses have been used to fulfill the degreerequirements that were indicated on this form. Retain copies of this form, coursedescriptions, syllabi, handouts, essays, notes, exams and course attendance ortime records to help determine course equivalencies.REQUEST A TRANSCRIPTBefore you depart from your study abroad program, you must request that theoverseas program director or Registrar airmail OFFICIAL transcripts or gradereports in English to UGA’s Undergraduate Admissions Office, 212 Terrell Hall,Athens, GA 30602-0023, USA (not to the Office of International Education).Transcripts received in any language other than English will be returned to thestudent for a certified translation. If the transcript will only be available inanother language, you should have it sent directly to you and obtain a certifiedtranslation before submitting it to the Admissions Office. For more information: http://www.uga.edu/oie/satrancred.htm Please note: Substantial delays in postinginternational transfer credit are common, which could delay receipt of your next semester’s financial aid. This means you may be required to pay tuition upon your returnto campus with reimbursement, if appropriate, through your financial aid. Grades listedon an international transcript will be awarded pass/fail credit at UGA. Gradeslisted on a U.S. transcript will be transferred as letter grades. POST CREDIT APPROVAL FORM CHECKLIST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DROPPED ANY COURSES THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED FOR AT UGA. This is important because after

the CAF is processed, your records will be flagged, indicating your program and preventing you from dropping or adding any UGA courses for that semester. If you have any questions regarding student financial aid and study abroad, call or visit the Office of Student Financial Aid TODAY. Financial Aid is located in the

Holmes-Hunter Academic Building on North Campus. Take a copy of your completed CAF to your appointment. Make sure your passport (and visa, if necessary) will not expire sooner than 6 months after your return date. Visit us at http://www.uga.edu/oie/satravel.htm for

important travel information. Make sure you are covered by health insurance plus medical evacuation and repatriation of remains coverage through one of the following: (1) Your study

abroad program policy; (2) UGA study abroad policy (brochures available at the Office of International Education); or (3) Your parents’ policy plus an InternationalStudent ID card (to cover evacuation and repatriation). International Student ID cards may be purchased for $22 in the Office of International Education.

Make an appointment with the Travel Clinic to be clear about required vaccinations for your study abroad destination. Record and take with you on your trip, the name and email of your academic advisor . You must contact him/her for the following reasons while abroad: (1) If you

need to change your courses while abroad; or (2) If you need to register for courses for the semester you return (See http://www.uga.edu/oasis to download OASISsoftware while abroad.)

BEFORE YOU RETURN from your study abroad experience, you must request the overseas program director or Registrar to airmail OFFICIAL transcripts inEnglish to Admissions. See http://www.uga.edu/oie/satrancred.htm for complete policy.
