UNMC Solar Car Competition 2015 Introduction The IEM Student Chapter of University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) is organizing a Solar Car Competition which will be held on the 28 th March 2015 at the fountain open space. This event will provide an opportunity for students to learn how to take into account of the idea, budget and design of their respective solar car model and at the same time cultivate team building skills and instilling the concept of “Go Green” among participants. Furthermore, the design of the solar car will also be judged based on environmental friendly concept (such as using recycled materials for construction of solar car) as in collaboration with UNMC Nature Club. On top of that, this event will also provide a platform for students to exhibit their creativity and fully showcase their talent. The ultimate goal for the team is to have the fastest car or the best designed car as either one will achieve the purpose of the event and will be rewarded. Objectives To cultivate teamwork and team bonding as everyone must reach the same agreement on various factors before and during the process To provide a platform for students to think out of the box for problem solving Creates awareness towards the environment as the design of the students should comply with the Go Green factor. To maximize the potential of the creativity of the students Entry

Awards Champion: RM500 & medals First runner-up: RM300 & medals Second runner-up: RM 120 & medals Best designed car x 3: RM 120*Certificates of will be given to all participants

Expected teams of joiningDue to resources limitations, only the first 30 teams registered (based on a first-come-first-serve basis) will be participant in the event.

How to participate RegistrationParticipants will be asked to design and construct a solar-powered car based on the information provided. Registration form and registration fee must be submitted at the booth. The deadline of the registration is 7th October 2014 (Friday) and the registration will be closed when the slots are full. Only the first 30 teams registered will be invited to participant in the competition.

All the participating teams are encouraged to attend pre-competition briefing in order to have a clearer understanding in the rules, car design and other relevant information about the competition.

Best designed carEvery team is required to hand in an A4 size brochure about their designation of car model 3 days before the competition, 3rd February 2015 (Tuesday). Failure to do so will not allow to participate in the best design car competition. 5 best teams will be nominated to the final stage.

The speed competitionThe competition will be held on 28th March 2015 (Saturday). It will take place at UNMC fountain open space and all the participating teams must report by the specified time.
