UNM MEDICAL SCHOOL SCORED IN TOP 10 BY AMERICAN ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS The American Academy of Family Physicians has awarded the UNM School of Medicine the Family Medicine Top Ten Award because 16% of their medical school graduates choose to enter the specialty of Family Medicine. They also encourage graduating doctors to set up practice in New Mexico's rural and underserved areas, where people don't always have access to competent medical care. Right now the U.S. is facing a shortage of primary care ;physicians, so the results of the UNM program are greatly appreciated.
