1 REFERENCING METHODS

A bibliographic reference is a summary of data on the referenced publication, or parts

thereof, allowing its identification. It is necessary to cite all sources from which the student

drew, according to clearly defined rules so that anyone can look up the original source.

When creating bibliographic references, we follow ČSN ISO 690 (01 0197) effective from

1 April 2011.

1.1 Harvard system

Right in the text, author, year of publication and the reference to the relevant part of the

document (e.g. page number) is given in parentheses, if the author's name is mentioned

naturally in the text, only year of publication and page number is given in parentheses. In

the case of multiple sources by the same author and the same year of publication, a small

letter of the alphabet (a, b, c, ..) shall be written after the year of publication. The list of

bibliographic references is then arranged in alphabetical order by authors' surnames.

1.1.1 Example of in-text citation

However, we must also make sure that long-term availability and usability of the digital

object is maintained (Strathmann, 2008a, p 39-40).

Baker (2007) describes various examples of student activism activities on college campuses

as well as students' involvement and stake in many areas of scholarly communication in the

academy.

2.1 Numerical references

The relevant citation source is referenced by numbers in round, square brackets or

superscript. Numbers are assigned to documents according the order in which they are cited

in the thesis. In case of multiple reference of the same source, the number of the first

occurrence will always be given. When referring to a part of the document, the page

number will be given after the number.

3.1 Process notes

Reference to the cited document is identified by a number that refers to a footnote. Notes

are numbered in the order in which they appear in the text. The note that references to an

already cited document should give the whole citation of the document or specify the

number of the previous note with page numbers. In the list of references, the individual

sources are arranged alphabetically.

Table 1 General principles of interactive learning5

General principles of interactive learning

1. Encourage creative atmosphere in the classroom.

2. Encourage expressing own opinions and ideas.

3. Give positive feedback to every behaviour that leads to the goal.

4. Create a sense of responsibility for the common task.

5. Make sure that everyone is involved and given space to express themselves.

6. When commenting on the interim results, use non-evaluative, descriptive language

(e.g. instead of "You are not able to understand what you are being asked" preferably "In

this task, you have deviated from the assignment.").

7. Begin discussions with what is familiar to all, what everyone has to say to.

8. Formulate current and attractive themes give examples from a known environment.

9. Assign briefly, clearly and specifically formulated tasks.

10. Make sure that at every stage everyone knows what to do.

11. Do not run from conflict, make them clarify controversial opinions.

12. Take the time to reflect on completed activities.

List of bibliographic references (numbered page, the number is displayed)

Clear and detailed methodology for referencing and creating bibliographic citations

according to ČSN ISO 690 (01 0197) can be found at

http://www.citace.com/soubory/csniso690-interpretace.pdf. This methodology includes a

broad range of practical examples of references of various types of documents. The

following text was prepared on the basis of this methodology, but it merely simplifies and

shortens it. Select a form of listing with regard to the referencing method used (Harvard

system, numerical references, process notes, see Chapter 1 of this document).

A bibliographic reference is a summary of data on the referenced publication, or parts

thereof, allowing its identification. It is necessary to cite all sources from which the student

drew, according to clearly defined rules so that anyone can look up the original source. When

creating bibliographic references, we follow ČSN ISO 690 (01 0197) effective from 1 April

2011.
