You may already be familiar with the Phoenix Career Guidance System on your student website (eCampus) if you completed the University Orientation course. As a reminder, the Phoenix Career Guidance System is your one-stop shop to help you get career ready, whether you are looking to turn your passions into a career, or trying to take your career to the next level. It is an end-to-end career planning and development platform that can help you develop the skills you need and prepare you for your career goals.

For this assignment, you will start in Milestone 1, Career Exploration in the Phoenix Career Guidance System. To complete this assignment, follow the directions provided in each section.

Section 1: Goal 1.1 Chart your career path

1. Access the Career Exploration Tool in the Phoenix Career Guidance System. To access Phoenix Career Guidance System and the Career Exploration Tool, complete the following steps:

Log in to the student website at https://ecampus.phoenix.edu Click the Careers tab.

If you have visited the Phoenix Career Guidance before, you will go to your career dashboard and you can move to Step 2. If this is your first time visiting the Phoenix Career Guidance System, please continue with the following steps.

Click the Get Started button.

Respond to the 4-question survey and then click the Continue button.

2. Click the Set Your Goals navigation button on the top part of the page.

Complete Milestone 1.1 Chart your career path by clicking Chart your career path.

Read the information titled, 1.1 Chart your career path.

3. Complete the following table after reading the Chart your career path information. Your answer should be between 50 and 100 words.

Once you have read the information in stage 1.1 Chart your Career Path and completed the above table, mark this stage as complete and click the continue button at the bottom of the page to go to stage 1.2 Set Your Career Goals.

Section 2: Milestone 1.2 Set Your Career Goals

After marking Milestone 1.1 as complete, you go to Milestone 1.2 Set Your Career Goals. In this section, you have the opportunity to search through different career goals that could be of interest using the Career Exploration tool. This tool allows you to research various careers based on your degree program, career interests, by a specific job title, or by a career area, For this exercise, you will explore careers based on your interests. To get started, click on the Interest Assessment link. You will need to respond to a series of questions to help you understand your career interests. If you have already completed the interest assessment, you do not need to retake it. After you have completed this assessment, DO NOT mark this stage as complete, as you will have an opportunity to return to this Milestone for additional exercises in future courses.

After you click on Milestone 1.2, Set your career goals, read the information and then click on the button ‘Go to the career exploration tool.’

Once in the Career Exploration tool, click on the blue interests link to take the interest assessment.

Begin taking the interest assessment.

Once you complete the interest assessment you can view your results.

1. Complete the following table after viewing your interest assessment results from stage 1.2 Set Your Career Goals. Hover your mouse over each trait and learn more about your career interest profile. Summarize what you have learned about

your top three traits.

After reviewing your interest results, review the list of the recommended job titles based on a combination of your interest results and your program of study. If you would like to explore other job titles not shown in the list of recommended jobs, you can search other careers by clicking on the career area search or the job title search.

Select two careers you are interested in, based on a combination of your interest assessment results and your program of study, or by conducting a separate search using the career area search or job title search features.

Conduct labor market research on the two careers clicking on the job titles, such as Marketing Specialist, and use the labor market details of each job title to complete the following table regarding the research you conducted.

Based on your research, which career path would you prefer to pursue? Why? (Respond in a minimum of 50 words.)

You can choose to add that career and others to your My Goals list.

Once you have completed the stage titled, 1.2 Set Your Career Goals, you can mark stage 2 of 2 as complete.

Section 3: Career Planning – Next Steps

1. Now that you have learned about the importance of career planning, your career interests, and have researched the labor market data for careers you are interested in, write down two steps you can take in the next 6 months to help you with your career planning and how your program of study and the Phoenix Career Guidance System might help you with these next steps. (Respond in 100 to 150 words).
