Other professional activities

Jan. 99-Jul. 03 As a DAAD fellow I had numerous tasks related to my affiliation with this organization and the

German Foreign Office. These assignments included: providing information for students interested

in an exchange to Germany, selecting/ interviewing candidates for the DAAD, language tests,

assisting the German Consulate General in Vancouver with numerous events/ visits in Victoria/

Vancouver, and co-operating with the Goethe Institute in Vancouver.

Service to the discipline of Political Science

2004-2006 President of the European Community Studies Association Canada (ECSA-C)

2005-2007 With various external projects (EUCAnet, YRN, ECSA-Canada, see above) I have helped to

establish UVic as one of the leading universities in the field of European Studies in Canada

In my role as European Studies Director and leader of the above mentioned external projects I have

initiated various outreach and media events (lecture series, media outreach, workshop and conferences,

etc.). For instance as organizer of the ECSA-C Biennial conference in Victoria (2006) many

representatives of the public attended the meetings and key note presentations.
