This table presents the total number of Student Credit Hours (SCH) for w hich the students register as of the sixth class day of the semester. The sixth class day is the University's off icial census date. These are credit hours attempted by students, not earned. Student Credit Hours are assigned to departments based on call numbers. Credit is not assigned according to the home department of the instructional staff w ho teach the courses.
1/ The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) reports student contact hours rather than student credit hours.
The measure or value of academic courses is generally thought of in terms of credit hours. A lecture course that is assigned one credit hour w ill generally meet for one hour each w eek for the duration of a semester. If 50 studetns register for a three credit hour course, that class w ill produce 150 (3 x 50 students) student credit hours.
The level of a course and thus the level of the SCH's attributable to that course is determined by the f irst digit of the course number: 100-400 undergraduate, 500-700 professional, and 800-900 graduate. Dual level (ie 400/800) courses are assigned based upon the course number for w hich the student registers. Student Credit Hours generated by f ield courses and reported as of the sixth class day of the semester are included in counts.
