The Knox County 4-H and FFA Fair will soon be upon us. This is an event that is worthy of your support and celebration, as this is one event that brings us all together. This is an event where we see parents, grandparents, volunteers, industry professionals, community leaders and most importantly, our youth, working together and engaged in hands-on activities. Your fair board has worked very hard over the past year to make the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair not only fun, but also educational for exhibitors and attendees. Through the programs offered from our 4-H clubs and FFA chapter, our youth are able to take advantage of a variety of opportunities and gain valuable skill sets, which will assist them in developing into effective leaders. The Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair provides a chance for our youth to demonstrate to you their areas of interest on which they have been working diligently. When attending the Fair this year, please take time to visit with the youth exhibitors, ask questions about their projects, and continue to encourage them to grow and learn more from the experiences offered from 4-H and FFA. Forest E. Witcraft, a teacher and scholar, once said, “A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or kind of car I drove…but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.” Who was that person that had an influential impact upon you, and helped and supported you to become the person you are today? Our youth are a critical and vital part to the future of our community. Please take time to find ways to provide support and to be that influential person to our youth. I look forward to seeing our community coming out to support our youth this summer at the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair. Thank you to all of those who have volunteered their time and resources, and also to those who have donated and given generously to support the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair and programs. Our fair would not be possible without the generous and continued support of our community. Thank you for all you do! Sincerely, James R. Penn, President 2019 Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair Board

The Knox County 4-H Council provides opportunities for youth to learn and grow. The Council is a policy making board, which has the responsibility of guiding, promoting, and implementing the Knox County 4-H Youth Development program. The 4-H Council is responsible for approving the curriculum offered within the county. The Council also plans, budgets, coordinates, and manages the many educational events conducted in the county. Each 4-H Club in the county elects four voting representatives to serve on the council. The council meets regularly in order to conduct business transactions, pay bills, receive reports of committees, evaluate programs and plan educational events, contests, and activities. Recognized adult volunteer leaders offer their time, talent, and resources to our youth. Volunteer leaders contribute in a variety of ways. Many lead projects year round or serve on 4-H committees, plan events, and coordinate local club activities. The Knox County 4-H Council works cooperatively with the Knox County FFA Chapter in planning and implementing the annual Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair. The 4-H Council would like to thank everyone who helps to make the 4-H program a success here in Knox County. We hope you’ll join us at the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair this year!

Congratulations Hailey Luthenauer for winning the 2019 Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair Book cover contest. Hailey Luthenauer is a 2nd year member of the County Liners 4-H Club. Hailey's projects include; Rabbits, Horses, Dogs, and Arts & Crafts. Hailey is a 3rd year member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association where she shows her rabbits on the National Show Circuit. In her free time, Hailey enjoys riding her horse, Maggie, fishing, and playing outside with her brother Hank.

4-H Building, Edina, MO

The 4-H Clover Sale was established in 2010 to encourage 4-H members to complete their projects, participate in more diverse projects, exhibit multiple projects at the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair and complete the 4-H program year. The Knox County 4-H Council is pleased to announce the 4-H Clover Sale will again be offered to 4-H members who qualify. The 4-H Clover Sale will take place during the annual 4-H/FFA Fair sale, with four Clovers being sold to the highest bidders that evening during the sale. All 4-H Clover Sale buyers’ photos will appear in the Edina Sentinel.

1. The Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair Board will assess a 2.5% commission fee from the total 4-H Clover Share sale price. 2. Proceeds from the 4-H Clover Sale will be divided among eligible 4-H members. 3. 4-H members who sell an exhibit during the annual 4-H/FFA Fair sale are not eligible to receive 4-H Clover Sale shares. 4. The maximum number of 4-H Clover Sale shares a member can receive is three. 5. In order to be eligible for each of these shares, a member must have exhibited a project item at the fair, completed a report form on that project, and fulfilled the requirements for completing the 4-H year. 6. To be eligible for more than one share, the items exhibited must be from different projects in which the member is enrolled. 7. If circumstances prevent a 4-H member from exhibiting at the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair, that member will be eligible to receive one share if he or she fulfills all the requirements for completing the 4-H year. 8. The value of each share will be determined by dividing the total amount raised from the 4-H Clover Sale by the number of eligible shares. 9. 4-H Clover Sale shares will be paid to 4-H members during the annual Knox County 4-H Recognition event.
