If you would like to review the reports in their entirety, please contact Allison Hill ([email protected] or 510.587 .6481) and she will send you the reports . The overall increase in the annual program funding is 7%. Professional liability increased 6%. One factor contributing to the increase is the University's claim severity (average cost per claim) has been in an upward trend over the past 10 years. There is also a significant increase for non-patient general liability of 16% which is driven by an increase in Full Time Equivalent (FTE) employees. Loss prevention continues to be the key to controlling our self-insured and our insured expenses and financial liabilities. We encourage you to utilize the Be Smart About Safety funds for training or other loss prevention related programs of $112,000 for General Liability and $476,000 for Employment Practices Liability (http://www.ucop.edu/risk-services/loss-prevention-control/be-smart-about-safety-program/index.html ). Individual location reports will be sent to your hospital risk manager under separate cover.
