The pre-bid walk-through for the UConn Health ASB Building Precast Panel Stabilization project was conducted on June 13, 2019 at the project site. The following provides additional clarification of items discussed and questions raised during the walk-through:
1. Work Location: The intent of the project is to lift the panels onto new shims while minimizing disruption to building tenants. Therefore, our intent is that all jacking procedures be performed from the exterior of the building. The interior spaces may be accessed for adjustment of the lateral anchors as required to facilitate jacking operations.2. Project Schedule: Contractors should perform the work using the following stipulations.a. Work resulting in excessive noise that would be disruptive to normal business operations must be performed off

THE GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK INVOLVES LIFTING OF TWENTY (20) 30' LONG x 8' HIGH x 5"
THICK ARCHITECTURAL PRECAST CONCRETE PANELS TO ACCOMMODATE REMOVAL OF
EXISTING PLASTIC SHIMS AND INSTALLATION OF NEW STEEL SHIMS. ALL OF THE PRECAST
PANELS TO BE LIFTED FROM THE ROOF OR THE EXTERIOR.
IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THIS WORK WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THE FOLLOWING
PROCEDURE:
1. LOCALLY REMOVE ROOF BASE FLASHINGS, ROOFING MATERIALS (ROOF MEMBRANE,
INSULATION, COVERBOARD), WOOD BLOCKING, AND CORRUGATED STEEL DECK TO
EXPOSE BEARING CONNECTIONS AT PRECAST PANELS. PERMIT WJE INSPECTION.
2. LIFT PRECAST PANELS FROM COLUMN CAPS AS REQUIRED TO ALLOW FOR REMOVAL
OF EXISTING PLASTIC SHIMS AND INSTALLATION OF NEW STEEL SHIMS.
3. ANCHOR NEW STEEL SHIM STACK TO EXISTING STRUCTURE.
4. REMOVE AND REPLACE METAL DECKING AND WOOD BLOCKING AS REQUIRED AT
PANEL BEARING LOCATIONS.
5. REINSTALL ROOFING MATERIALS. PROVIDE NEW BASE FLASHINGS AND PATCH ROOF.

· ALL WORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE DRAWINGS DATED JUNE 5, 2019.
· ALL WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH THE BUILDING CODES, RULES AND REGULATIONS
APPLICABLE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF FARMINGTON, THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT
AND ANY OTHER AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION.
· THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS AT THE JOB SITE
PRIOR TO STARTING THE WORK, AND SHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER OF
ANY DISCREPANCIES, OMISSIONS, OR OTHER CONDITIONS WHICH MAY AFFECT THE
SCOPE OF WORK IMMEDIATELY, PRIOR TO BEGINNING REPAIRS IMPACTED BY THE
NOTED CONDITIONS. DO NOT SCALE DRAWINGS.
· THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL LABOR, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT AS
REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE WORK.
· THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SIDEWALK PROTECTION IN THE FORM OF
BARRICADES, PEDESTRIAN CANOPIES OR SIDEWALK SHEDS AS REQUIRED BY THE
OWNER AND/OR LOCAL ORDINANCES.
· ALL PERMITS TO BE SECURED BY OWNER. CONTRACTOR TO COMPLY WITH TERMS
OF PERMIT.
· THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROPERLY PROTECT AND MAKE SAFE ADJACENT
PROPERTIES AND OWNER'S PROPERTY AS JOB CONDITIONS REQUIRE.
· UNANTICIPATED CONDITIONS OR DISTRESSED BUILDING ELEMENTS ENCOUNTERED
DURING THE COURSE OF THE WORK WHICH REQUIRE REPAIRS SHALL BE BROUGHT
TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER AND THE OWNER. NO
ADDITIONAL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED UNLESS APPROVED IN ADVANCE BY THE
OWNER.
· THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE TO BE TAKEN IN THEIR ENTIRETY AND
AS A WHOLE. IF A DISCREPANCY IS FOUND BETWEEN THE DRAWINGS AND
SPECIFICATIONS, THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER SHALL DETERMINE WHICH GOVERNS,
AS IS CONSISTENT WITH THE INTENT OF THE DESIGN.
· THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SITE SAFETY AND
METHODS AND MEANS OF CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE ANY
INSPECTIONS OR ANALYSIS NECESSARY TO VERIFY THAT EXISTING BUILDING
ELEMENTS HAVE ADEQUATE LOAD CAPACITY TO SUPPORT ANY REQUIRED FORCES
HE/SHE CHOOSES TO IMPOSE ON THEM.
· THE BUILDING SHALL REMAIN OCCUPIED DURING THE COURSE OF THE WORK AND
CONSTRUCTION RELATED ACTIVITIES SHALL BE THOROUGHLY COORDINATED WITH
THE OWNER AND SHALL NOT BLOCK EXISTING MEANS OF EGRESS OR PEDESTRIAN
WALKWAYS. WORK SHALL BE PHASED SO THAT SAFE ACCESS TO THE BUILDING IS
MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES AND THAT BUILDING OPERATIONS ARE NOT DISTURBED.
