Whether you are on or off campus, the University Library website provides you with easy-to-use search tools and resourcesto aid your study and research.

Look beyond Google! ‘Findit’ is the fastest way to search all the items in the Library Catalogue as well as most of our online journal articles and newspapers.

‘Findit’ is your direct path to accessing peer-reviewed academic literature, which will give your work academic authority.

My Unit Readings

subject guides HIGH DEMAND collection

Unit coordinators set essential and recommended readings for students to complete as part of their studies. You will find these readings in ‘My Unit Readings’.

Reading lists are also available via My Units when you log into MyMurdoch.

Subject Guides are a great starting point when researching a topic. These online guides provide subject-specific information and resources in over 50 areas of study. You will also find search tips and research strategies.

The High Demand collection holds importantprint books identified by your lecturers. These items can be used within the HighDemand area or borrowed for two hours during the day.

The Library has up-to-date style guides for a variety of referencing styles used at Murdoch University. By referencing your research correctly, you acknowledge the ideas of others and ensure the academic integrity of your own work.

my libraryTo borrow items from the Library, use your university ID card at the self-check machines.

As an undergraduate student, you can borrow thirty items for twelve weeks. Your borrowed items may be recalled if requested by someone else.

For items Murdoch does not hold, you may also request items from other selected university libraries around Australia and New Zealand through our BONUS+ service.

Return your borrowed items on time to avoid penalty points. Standard Library items accrue one penalty point each day, if overdue. Should you accumulate more than 200 pointsin an academic year, your borrowing rights will be stopped until $50 fine is paid.

For items overdue by four weeks, a bill will be sent to you and an encumbrance willbe placed on your student record. Access toLibrary resources and assessment results will be blocked until you return the overdue item or pay the bill.

The easiest way to keep track of your current loans and requests is through ‘My Library’.

You can renew items, check your borrowing history, collect ArticleReach deliveries, create reading lists, rate items, and request items from the Library Catalogue.

Log into ‘My Library’ using your Murdoch University username and password.

Connecting to Eduroam computers in the library

‘Eduroam’ is a wireless service which provides Internet and network access to all Murdoch University students and staff. This network is accessible anywhere on campus and is also available at other WA Universities.

Use your Murdoch username and password to connect.

print, copy & scan

Printing, copying and scanning machines are located throughout our libraries. Use your university ID card to pay for printing and copying.

Add credit to your card by using the SmartLoader machines located at each of the Library branches.

Scanning to your USB device or email address is free.

On-campus computers provide access to Library resources, the Internet and the Microsoft Office suite of software.

Log into these computers using your Murdoch username and password.

print collections

The Library has a variety of study spaces available on four levels, including:

- the open learning common areas on Levels 2 and 3; - group and individual study rooms on South Wing Levels 2 and 3; - quiet study areas on South Wing Levels 1 and 2; - the Law Library on South Wing Level 3; - silent study desks on South Wing Level 4; and - computers on all levels.

The entrance to the Geoffrey Bolton Libraryis located off Bush Court. When you enter, you will be on Level 3 in the North Wing.

Inside you will find open, group and individual study spaces, computer workstations, the 24/7 Learning Common, and our green space – the Library Courtyard.

As a Murdoch student, you have access to Library’s 24/7 Learning Common.To access this space after-hours, use your university ID card at the Level 2 entrance onthe west side of the building (near the Lunchbox Café).

The University Library’s print collections are located on all four levels of the Library’s South Wing:

- Level 1: Journals 001-999 - Level 2: Books 500-999 and DVD collection - Level 3: Books 340-349 - Level 4: Books 001-499 and Reference collection

Talk to Library staff if you require assistance locating an item from the collection.

The Mandurah Campus Library and Veterinary Library also offer print collections, quiet and group study spaces and computer access.
