Travel and Study at CAU International Summer Program Republic of KOREA

The Republic of Korea is a small country on the far eastern edge of Asia. Although it

ranks 106th in the world in terms of land area, the country is a center of economic

activity as well as culture, and arts. Today, Korea is an industrial nation standing

tall on the world stage. Korea’s semiconductor, automobile, shipbuilding, steel and

IT industries are leaders in the world’s global markets. Korea has also been host to

the 1988 World Olympics in Seoul, the 2002 Korea-Japan FIFA World Cup, and has

been selected to host the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Recently, Korean

entertainment has been attracting many audiences globally, creating the "Korean

Wave." Korea's new standing in the international community was highlighted in

2010 by becoming the first Asian country to chair the G20 and host the G20 Seoul

Summit.

SEOULSeoul is the world’s 10th largest city and is also the center of all political, economic and cultural activities in Korea. Korea’s past and

present coexists harmoniously—with a heritage that spans across centuries and a future that lies with the cutting-edge technology

of its IT industry. The city is surrounded by beautiful mountains and is built around the banks of the Han River with the nearest seaside

located only an hour away from Seoul.

1. Accommodation One of the best and most advanced university dormitories in Korea, Blue Mir Hall was built using Mondrian abstract art that balances

symmetry and order and is one of the newest buildings in Chung-Ang University. This residential building is surrounded by a small

natural forest. The building is equipped with state of the art air conditioning and heating system, high speed wireless internet, a large

dining area, fitness center, café and lounge.

Each room is fitted with two twin beds, two desks, an air conditioner/heater, and bathroom. Students wishing to stay in the dormitory

should check the housing option when submitting their application form.

2. Health InsuranceHealth Insurance is required for all international students attending Chung-Ang University. If they do not carry a proper accident and

health insurance policy whose benefits match or exceed $20,000 respectively, they must purchase a health insurance policy in Korea.

We highly recommend students purchase the insurance offered by CAU as it is usually much more affordable than insurance purchased

abroad. It is also a sufficient short-term policy to cover students for the duration of our program.

3. VisaForeign nationals of those countries with which Korea has signed a visa waiver agreement (U.S, Most European countries, Japan, etc)

can enter Korea and participate in the ISP without a visa for duration of up to 90-days. For more information, please consult your

nearest embassy or consulate general.

I'm extremely happy and grateful that I was able to be part of this program. I've made so many new friends, learned so much of the Korean culture and language, and got to know what the student life here is like. I really felt like I was made at home here, and I know for sure that I will miss Chung-Ang and Korea very much. Thank you for everything.

Rose Ann Gomez San Diego State University, USA

During my four-week stay here at Chung-Ang University, I really enjoyed a lot of the activities the program planned for us to do. From the activities we’ve done so far, I think my top three favorite events have to be the field trips to Gangwon Province, the Seoul city tour, and the pop culture day at MBC with the Film Museum.

Jessica Quinn University of Ottawa, Canada

CAU International Summer Program was outstanding!! The experience was unforgettable and it was the best way I could think of spending my summer. I really enjoyed the program and will definitely be recommending that my home university continue the partnership with CAU! Great work!!

Anayazy Lopez Castro Tecnologico De Monterrey, Queretaro Mexico

CAU Summer Program represents one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life, I have met many ofnew friends from different countries and realized what a beautiful country South Korea is.Every single moment in this program was very special for me, I am grateful to Chung-Ang University for everything, the activities, lectures and classes were excellent!

Ng Chu Er Singapore Institute of Management, Singapore

This is my first time taking part in this kind of summer program. It was really fun and interesting. The activities I experienced were more than I expected. These cultural activities helped me know more about Korea's culture and society. I wouldn't have been able to experience these if I only came here to travel or follow a travel company. These experiences are awesome and I am happy that I met a lot of friends from different countries.

Keanu Rizky Binus University, Indonesa

I want to say that this program was excellent! 10 out of 10!! It gave me a lot of new experiences like meeting new friends, studying the Korean language (that I wasn’t really interested in before), and now I know the basics of the language and I can read it!
