….are used to compare two things. You can use

sentences with “than”, or you can use a conjunction

like “but”.

Examples: Cristiano is taller than Messi.

Messi is tall, but Cristiano is taller.

…used to compare more than two things. Superlative

sentences usually use “the”, because there is only one

superlative.

Examples: Cristiano is the tallest of the team.

Caka is tall, and Messi is taller, but Cristiano is the tallest

Examples:He is the best football player in the team.

This is the most expensive city I've visited.

We use comparativ

e to compare

two things.

Examples:Ronaldinho is thinner than Kaka.

It's more expensive to travel by train than by bus. We use

superlative to compare one thing with the

rest of the group it belongs

to.

Examples:Britney is cuter than Shakira.

Shakira is cute but Britney is the cutest.

Argentina is bigger than Mexico

Mexico is the biggest country.

Examples:Football is more interesting than

Football is the most interesting sport.

We do not use the with

the superlative if

there is a possessive.

His strongest point is his ambition.

We use as + adjective + as to say that two things are

equal in some way or not as to say that

two things are not equal in some way.

He's as tall as me.Jim's car is not as fast as mine. We can

modify comparative with much, a

lot, far, a little, a bit,

slightly.

Paris Hilton is much richer than I am.My mother's hair is slightly longer than

mine.

comparative to say

that something is changing
