General Problem

Let K be some class of compact spaces of weight 6 c. Is it truethat C (K ) embeds isomorphically (isometrically) into `∞/c0 forany K ∈ K?

Theorem (Parovicenko)

For any compact space K of weight 6 ℵ1, C (K ) embedsisometrically into `∞/c0. In particular, under CH General Problemtrivializes.

Theorem (Brech-Koszmider)

Consistently, there is a uniform Eberlein compactum K such thatC (K ) does not embed isomorphically into `∞/c0.

Since c is not Kunen, there is E ⊆ R2,E /∈ P(R)⊗ P(R).WLOG, we may assume that ∀a, b ∈ E a < b.Consider the space

Theorem

If c is not a Kunen cardinal then there exists a uniform Eberleincompact space K such that the space C (K ) embedsisomorphically, but fails to embed isometrically into `∞/c0.

Proof

The space K2(E ) considered in the proof of the previous theoremis a uniform Eberlein compactum such that C (K2(E )) does notembed isometrically into `∞/c0.

However, it embedsisomorphically into `∞/c0, since it is isomorphic to c0(c)(Marciszewski 2003).

Problem (Benyamini, Rudin, Wage 1977)

Is it true that any uniform Eberlein compactum of weight 6 κ is acontinuous image of A(κ)ω, where A(κ) denotes the one pointcompactification of a discrete space of size κ?

Answer (Bell 1996)

There is a uniform Eberlein compactum of weight ω1 which is nota continuous image of A(ω1)ω

We can also distinguish uniform Eberlein compacta of weight 6 cfrom the class of continuous images of A(c)ω in terms of isometricembeddings function spaces into `∞/c0. Indeed, A(c)ω is acontinuous image of βω \ ω and since `∞/c0 ≡ C (βω \ ω), anycontinuous image of A(c)ω embeds isometrically into `∞/c0. For a binary relation E ⊆ R2 and integer n > 2, denote by E [n] thefollowing set

E [n] = {(x1, . . . , xn) ∈ Rn : ∀i < j (xi , xj) ∈ E and xi 6= xj}

Theorem (Todorcevic 2011)

Suppose that for every Corson compact space K of weight 6 c, thespace C (K ) embeds isomorphically into `∞/c0. Then for everybinary relation E ⊆ R2 and for all but finitely many positiveintegers n, the set E [n] can be separated from (E c)[n] by a memberof Pn(R)

Theorem

Suppose that for every uniform Eberlein compact space K ofweight 6 c, the space C (K ) embeds isomorphically into `∞/c0.Then for every binary relation E ⊆ R2 and for all but finitely manypositive integers n, the set E [n] can be separated from (E c)[n] by amember of Pn(R)
