The WHO defines health as:
A state of complete physical, mental
and social well being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.

In 1972 UNESCO’s commission report
“Learning to Be” asserted that:
“Education should contribute to every person’s complete development – mind and body, intelligence, sensitivity, aesthetic appreciation and spirituality.”

Present situation
• For the last 200-years, many individuals have criticized the form public schooling has taken.
• Johann Pestalozzi, Thoreau, Emerson, Alcott, Francis Parker, John Dewey, Maria Montessori and Rudolf Steiner, among others, "…all insisted that education should be understood as the art of cultivating the moral, emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions of the developing child".
