Letter From the EditorGrace and peace be unto you UNITED,

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalm 103:1

How we praise the name of the Lord for His presence and His goodness. With a heart of thanksgiving, we press forward in the process of the renewal of our minds. To do this, we must also renew our focus. Pastor Tahijj Counts continues to minister to us about the Renewed Focus…Renewed Dream.

We are still gearing up to experience the manifestation of The Limitless God at our Silver Anniversary celebration in Towson, MD. Have you registered yet? The first 200 people are in for a treat as they will receive complimentary seats (a $25 value) to join us at our awesome People’s Appreciation Luncheon where we will present the winners of the UNITED Spirit Awards. Who do you know that has exhibited the Spirit of Love, Courage, Commitment, Giving or Excellence? (Winners must be present and will be acknowledged at the 25th National Holy Convocation)

Continue to read on and be blessed as you enjoy this mid-month issue. And above all UNITED, continue to stand.

In His Service, Annette ParkinsEditorwww.unitedcovenantchurches.org

Renewed Focus…Renewed DreamAnd the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now

thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. Genesis 13:14-17

The Dead Sea is dead because water flows in but nothing comes out. If you keep God's blessing for yourself it becomes stale and spiritually dry. The intrinsically selfish nature wants everything to flow into you, not a pitcher to pour into others. Genesis 13:5-7 speaks of the blessing Lot possessed because of Abraham, but yet he was still selfish. Lot had a selfish focus – serve me, listen to me, share with me, love me.

We must let Jesus transform our self-focus into outward focus. If you want to change your future, don't focus on circumstances or people that are smaller than what you are hoping for! STOP focusing on your distractors. STOP allowing people who don't care about you to rent space in your mind for FREE. Stop focusing on your selfishness. Abram lived by faith, Lot lived by sight. Abram was humble and respectful, Lot was greedy and self-exalting. Abram sought after God and His promises, Lot sought after bright lights, possessions and pleasures of world. Are you Abram or Lot?

Page 5: United Times ~ Mid-May 2014

If I told you I had $10,000 to give to someone who really needed it, who comes to your mind? God was teaching Abram to focus. Whatever your predominant focus is, that is what your permit to exist in your life! God trained Abram to focus on bigger thoughts. You have to see yourself walking into the blessing.

Your focus will feed your faith or confirm your fears. Stop focusing on people who don't believe in you, don't support you, etc... The shame in life is not to fail to reach your dream but to fail to have a dream to reach for.

As children, youth, young adults and Youth Pastors from across this great nation anticipate our 25th UCCC Holy Convocation July 22-26 in Towson, MD, I wanted to set a launching pad for you!

This year’s Uc3 theme is "U-neXt"! Unique.. Undefeated.. Unbreakable.. Universal.. you are...UNITED. You’re next to walk in excellence! You’re next to walk in greatness. You’re next to walk in favor beyond your understanding!! U-neXt is a sign of a shift - it represents a move, a transfer and a new direction!

Isaiah 58:12 (MSG) is our foundation that this year from what was, it will be greater. The U-neXt generation will be the fixers, restorers, rebuilders and renovators!!

The U-neXt experience will kick off with a dynamic, high-energy Word delivered by our special guest, Evangelist Marissa Farrow of Baltimore, Maryland. There will be workshops that literally touch and meet the needs of our children, youth, young adults and Youth Pastors/leaders. These Uc3 workshops and instructors are guaranteed to go beyond your expectations.

We will have powerful and transformational Word delivered by Pastor Leslie Christie, Min. Ray Garcia, Darian Garnes and others! In each U-neXt worship experience we will have youth choirs, groups, ministry in dance, mime, rap, a DJ, spoken word/poetry, our very own Uc3 Youth Choir and so much more!

Page 15: United Times ~ Mid-May 2014
