Fuel in daylight when possible Tie boat securely to dock Put out all flames; no smoking Shut off engines/electrical equipment Close doors, hatches, portholes Have fire extinguisher close at hand Have all passengers leave the boat

While Fueling

Keep nozzle in contact with filler pipe

Estimate fuel needed

Fill only 95% full

After Fueling

Close filler pipe opening

Wipe up any spillage - leave wipers on shore

Open all portholes, doors, hatches

Check fuel lines, tanks, and filters for leaks

Turn on bilge blower, if so equipped

Sniff bilge for vapors - run blower untilyou are sure there are no fumes
