Background• Previously, outreach addressed on ad hoc basis • Established as official Working Group by Global Executive Steering

Committee (GESC) in January 2007– Acknowledgement by leaders re: importance of issue – Governed by Global Bylaws– Afforded all responsibilities, roles, opportunities, and support as topic-

oriented Working Groups• Leadership appointment:

– Ron Hawley, Chair– Steve Correll, Vice Chair

Efforts-to-Date• Updating of historical Global outreach plan by appointed leaders

– For use as springboard/starting point– More fully developed plan to be crafted as an initial activity of Working

Group members

• Conference call with GESC– Concurrence on approach:

• Message delivery is purview of Global Outreach Working Group• Message content remains purview topic-focused groups (Working

Groups, task teams) and SMEs – Support for tiered membership approach

• Opportunity for short-term membership may translate to increased interest in participation, more targeted skill sets per task-at-hand

Membership Solicitation • Familiarity with justice-related information sharing issues and approaches,

including the Global Initiative.

• Marketing strategies and communication skills, with an emphasis on:– Familiarity with marketing plan development – Practical experience in marketing and communications

Experience in the promotion of justice-related activities preferred – Experience with targeting methodologies – Ability to monitor marketing plan efforts – Experience in branding initiatives and ability to discover unique opportunities

in the market to leverage the brand – Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to conceive

and articulate plans

• As importantly: Enthusiasm to support the Global Initiative toward a greater good, regardless of agency affiliation. – Travel expenses to be reimbursed, but as with other Working Groups,

participation is on a voluntary basis.
