EYFS PARENT WORKSHOPS NURSERY & RECEPTION PARENTS/CARERS

Thank you to the many parents that turned up to this weeks workshop. It was fantastic to see so many engaged and enthusiastic parents learning how they can support their child. Wednesday 10th October 9am in the hall– Mathematics Come and learn how children acquire key number skills, how to teach young children calculation and lots of fun games!

MRS GOLDBERG TO CONQUER KILIMANJARO

As some of you may already be aware Mrs Goldberg, has set herself a

tough but very exciting challenge and is climbing Kilimanjaro at the end

of this year. She leaves for Africa on the 26th of December and all being

well, should summit on New Years Eve!

To help support her training for this tough challenge, our school council have organised for all

pupils to take part in a step and fitness challenge which will also help raise money for Mrs Goldberg’s nominated charity

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT.

The step and fitness challenge will take place on Friday the 12th of October.

Throughout the day Mrs Goldberg will take groups of children one class at a time to complete a step challenge and participate in a variety of fitness activities. Each class will be timed to see who can complete the circuit the fastest – it will be a fun day!

We are asking pupils to wear something GREEN for Macmillan and make a voluntary £1 donation, or whatever you can give to

help people with cancer live normal lives.

To learn more about how Macmillan Cancer Support spends the money raised to help those living with cancer, please visit www.macmillan.org.uk or find out more about Mrs Goldberg’s Kilimanjaro trip, please visit www.justgiving.com/Jennie-Goldberg

We really appreciate your support and hope that you’ll have fun helping our school raise lots of money for Macmillan!

MAINTENANCE PAYMENT

Each year, we request a voluntary contribution to the school’s

Maintenance Fund, which helps to pay for the upkeep of our

two wonderful buildings and IT equipment. As a Voluntary

Aided school, in contrast to other types of maintained school,

only 90% of capital costs are met by the state.

The suggested termly maintenance contribution is £15 per

child or £45 for the academic year. You can pay

online www.justgiving.com/emmanuelcoeschool or by cash or

cheque (payable to Emmanuel CofE School) at the school office

(correct money if at all possible) where Gift Aid envelopes are

also available.

Thank you to those that have made their contributions.

WEST END LANE BOOKS

We have an excellent relationship with West End Lane Books and Danni is extremely supportive of the Literacy work we do here at Emmanuel.

Did you know that if you mention you are an Emmanu-el parent 10% of the total of your purchase is given

back to our school?

Danni gives us the total at the end of the academic year and we enjoy spending the money on the Prize Giving Books and replenishing the class book corners.

Each time you shop just tell them you are an Emmanuel parent and they will do the rest! Every little bit helps they say! Thank you!

INDIVIDUAL & SIBLING SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

Our school photographer will come to the Omega Building on

Tuesday 2nd October to take individual photographs of pupils

in Y2-Y6 and siblings.

On Wednesday 3rd October individual photographs of pupils in

in the Alpha Building– Nursery, Reception & 1K and any

siblings absent from the day before will be taken.

The only change this year is that we will organise the sibling

photographs in-house. You do not need to come before school

to have these taken as in past years.

Thank you.

PFE Annual General Meeting

THIS HAS BEEN POSTPONDED TO FRIDAY 12TH OCTOBER

AT 9AM.

We hope your children are settling into their new classes nicely! Please note the following events in your diaries:

Bingo & Auction Night - Thursday 11th October (Omega Building, Hall) Join us again for a fun evening of Bingo combined with an auction and raffle of vouchers, services and merchandise generously donated by local businesses and fellow parents/carers. We would be grateful if you could tap into your personal and professional networks to see if someone you know might be willing to donate an item or service for this.

Classlist The PFE's primary form of communication with parents is via Classlist, a parent-to-parent private social network. The platform is app and web-based, free to use and GDPR-compliant. Classlist will allow you to communicate easily with other parents in your child's class. Parents can share as much as or as little contact information with other parents as they like, and can even keep their own email address private whilst still receiving messages. If you are not already signed up, please locate Emmanuel CE Primary on Classlist.com or provide your email address to your Class Rep.

Easyfundraising The PFE has an account with an online shopping portal called Easyfundraising which can raise money for Emmanuel at no cost to you when you shop at your favourite retailers. There are thousands of retailers on board including John Lewis, Debenhams, Selfridges, Argos, Currys, Etsy, Notonthehighstreet and Amazon. Registration is simple and takes no more than five minutes. To register, go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/pfe/ and follow instructions to create your account. Friends and family can register and earn on our behalf too!

Matched Funding Many companies run schemes to support employees who are raising money for a charitable cause. As the PFE is a registered charity, monies raised for the school through the PFE’s efforts are eligible for such programs. A simple query to your company’s HR department about whether there is a matched funding programme in place could be enormously helpful to our fundraising efforts.

MEDICAL NEEDS

At the beginning of this new academic year we are updating

our medical records in school. If your child has medication in

school (e.g. an asthma inhaler or Epi-pen) please ensure you

have completed a new Individual Health Care Plan or an

Administration of Asthma Pump form to ensure we have up-

to-date and accurate information to support your child.

These forms are available from the school office. For more

information, do speak to Miss Bond.

NUTS!

Can you please ensure you are not giving your child any nut

products to take to school (peanut and tree nuts).

Unfortunately this week we have noticed 3 nut items in the

children’s snacks and packed lunch. We have children with

severe allergies and we need everyone's help to keep them

safe. Please check health bars in particular. Thank you.
