The First World War (or the Pony War) was fought form 1914 to

1918 and as a result of the war, League of Nations was formed to

bring peace in the world.

After the failure of the League of Nations in 1939, the II World

War took place, which lasted till 1945.With the end of the II World

War, many countries of the world assembled together to form the

UNO to maintain world peace.

UNO was formed on 24 October, 1945. President of USA, Mr.

Rossvelt, gave the name UNO to the organization.

There were 50+1 original members of the UNO. Poland the one

extra member signed the draft of UNO immediately.

UNO is based on 1 country – 5 delegates – 1vote.

The session of the General Assembly starts on the III Tuesday of

September and lasts up to December.

There are 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council who

enjoy the veto power. These permanent members are USA, China,

UK, Russia and France.

There are 10 Non-Permanent Members of the UN Security

Council.

There are 14 judges in International Court of Justice who serve a 9

year term. No two judges can be from the same country.

The headquarters of the International Court of Justice is at Hague.

There are 54 members who serve a 3 year term in the ECOSOC.

The members are elected by the General Assembly.

Trusteeship Council was founded after the II World War.
