Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, for ever. Amen.

TODAY’S NOTES Pastoral Care If you have any pastoral needs or know of any in the Village Church family, please call Martin Copenhaver at 781.235.1988 x12. Care Kits If during the worship service you find you need a tissue, cough drop, or a drink of water, please ask an Usher to help you. Hearing devices amplify sound anywhere in the Sanctuary. They are available at the back of the church. For assistance, please speak with an Usher. Sustainability and Creating a Backyard Food Garden After 10am Worship, Burtt Chapel You can help yourself and help sustain Wellesley by having your own backyard food garden using a few square feet, a water source, and a little time. After 10 am Worship, get a cup of coffee at Fellowship Hour and then come to the Chapel to join Ursula King, Wellesley Natural Resources Commissioner, and Cynthia Curtis, Village Church Environmental Ministry member, for a discussion about important aspects of growing your own food, the food gardens being cultivated successfully by Village Church youth and the distribution of food from these youth gardens for local consumption. Learn ways to improve your family’s health, teach your children the science of soil and plants, save money on groceries, reduce your environmental impact, get outdoor exercise and enjoy better-tasting, more nutritious food. Fellowship Hour 11:15 am, Village Common The Community Ministry would like to praise and support the work of the Environmental Ministry Team as they help our congregation celebrate Earth Day today. Our contribution to “A Billion Acts of Green” will be to promote an ongoing effort to have a trashless Fellowship Hour as our standard of being better stewards of our Earth. Instead of using paper cups this week we will use the mugs and china coffee cups that the church owns. We would like to thank the Environmental Ministry for leading us to become a more green community. We would also like to praise the unsung individuals who act in small ways that set big examples. Our own Cheryl Fiust represents one of these individuals as she regularly brings her own coffee mug to church. The Community Ministry as host of Fellowship Hour looks forward to filling your mug. Cherub Choir 11:15 am, Upper Room Junior Choir Rehearsal 11:15 am, Music Room B6 7th & 8th Grade and High School Youth Group will not be meeting tonight. For information about youth programs, contact Pam Emslie by email at [email protected] or by phone at 781.235.1988 x15.

BULLETIN NOTES The Village Church Moms’ Group We will be meeting for dinner on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 pm at the home of Nancy Smith. This casual, ‘come when you can’ group, welcomes moms of all ages for monthly get-togethers away from the family, usually for a dinner in someone’s home or a restaurant, or perhaps for a service opportunity. It’s a great way to meet other moms and attendees of our church. Please email Amy Hille at [email protected] if you are interested in attending the dinner on the 24th - we hope you can join us! Make Your Voice Matter – to Reduce Family Homelessness Attend a free advocacy skills workshop, led by Miriam Stein, advocacy consultant, and learn successful, easy to use strategies to reduce family homelessness and advocate for other issues you care about. In a supportive atmosphere, practice key advocacy skills for communicating your views to your elected representatives in person, by phone or by letter. The workshops are sponsored by the Advocacy Network to End Family Homelessness and will be held at: Wellesley Friends Meeting, 26 Benvenue St., Wellesley on Sunday, April 29, 2-5 pm. Daughters of Abraham Are you interested in learning more about Judaism and Islam, as well as learning more about Christianity? Daughters of Abraham is a group of Jewish, Christian and Muslim women who want to deepen their knowledge of their own and one another’s faiths. By reading books that teach about the three faith traditions and learning about the practices of the respective faiths, the group hopes to increase respect for all of the Abrahamic religions. An important part of the Daughters of Abraham experience is building relationships among its members. The Wellesley Daughters of Abraham group meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 7–9 pm (usually at Cafe Mangal), September through June. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Wellesley group, please contact Julie Thistlethwaite at [email protected]. Christian Service Scholarship The Village Churchwomen offer a scholarship each year to a member of the congregation who is pursuing graduate studies in preparation for religious vocation. Anyone wishing to apply for this scholarship should do so by writing to Betty Seaborn by email to [email protected] before June 1. Contributions to the Christian Service Scholarship Fund would be greatly appreciated and may be left at the church office. Please make checks payable to the Village Churchwomen. Babson Night Rehearsal April 29 during Church School, May 6 after Church School and May 20 dress rehearsal during Church School. All Church School children ages 6 – 16 are invited to participate in singing and/or speaking roles.
