1
Evan Davies- Mansfield 16/10/13 Unit 209 2.1 Describe how to access guidance, information and advice about handling information. I would look at my policies and procedures while also following any local practices in regards to information handling, while following the principles of the data protection act 1998. I could also ask a senior member of staff and or the manager for any help regarding handling information and also to read any text books during my level two apprenticeship, along with accessing the internet for resources on handling information. 2.2 Explain what actions to take when there are concerns over the recording, storage or sharing information. Any concerns regarding the recording, storage or sharing of any information must be followed by action, starting with reporting any concerns to your line manager. If the line manager doesn't sort the concern then it must be taken further, to the senior management. When taking anything to the management of importance regarding a concern it should be put in writing, you should be very clear when stating dates and times and be exact with the descriptions of any concern. List the steps you have taken and tell of any responses you have already had. In the most unlikely cases you can include your trade union or professional organisation to help further any concerns. if you fail to get any satisfactory response from any of the above places, then in very rare cases you can take the matter to the inspectorate for the country in which you work, but taking such action against your employer is difficult and extremely serious, so all action must be taken in order to insure that the problem cannot be solved without the inspectorate becoming involved.
