she died of thyroid cancer.

Risk factors include exposure to head and neck radiation for medical
treatments or diagnosis and/or a family history of thyroid cancer.
Accumulated body scans from security equipment at airports, courthouses, and Federal
buildings are an additional source of radiation exposure.
Those operating this equipment on a daily basis, and continually exposed to the radioactive back-scatter, may be at an even higher risk than the
general public.

The incidence of thyroid cancer is increasing faster than any other cancer in the United States, and there are approximately 30,000 new cases each year.

•Thyroid cancer does not have many warning signals, so your best tool for early detection is knowing your family history. •Thyroid cancer may present as a lump at the front of the throat or may have other warning signals such as difficulty swallowing or labored breathing.

Had Kirsty taken the time to learn her family history….
she may have been more sensitive to the subtle signs
of thyroid cancer.
