Number 4

Find the Mean first. To find the mean you need to add all the values together and then divide by the number of x’s.

2 + 3 + 20 + 30 + 24 + 21 = 100

100 ÷ 21 = 4.8 (Round to the tenths)

To find the mode, look for which number has the most x’s.

Mode = 5

To find the median, use one of the strategies taught to locate the middle number.

Median = 5

Number 6Alan earned $23, $26, $25, $24, $23, $24, $6, $24, and $23 gardening. Find the median and mode of

the data.

Put them in order first: 6, 23, 23, 23, 24, 24, 24, 25, 26

The Median is 24.

The Mode is 23 and 24.

Next, identify the mode. Mode means “most.”

Number 9Given the following line plot: A. determine the mean and median. B. Which of these is

the best measure of center?Given - Mean = 22.7

22 and 23 are both left. Add the two numbers together and divide by 2.

23 + 24 = 47

47 ÷ 2 = 23.5

Find the Median.

Part B: Since there are no outliers, the mean is the best measure.

Number 11Find the mean absolute deviation of the

following data set: 3, 3, 4, 5, 5

Step #1 (Find the mean)3 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 5 = 2020 ÷ 5 = 4

Step #2 (Count the steps)1, 1, 0, 1, 1Step #3 (Find the mean of the steps)1 + 1 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 44 ÷ 5 = 0.8

Number 17There are three sets of data: set A, set B, and set C.

Students correctly calculated the Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) for each set. The MAD for set A was 3.4. The MAD for set B was 7.5. The MAD for set C was 5.3. A. Which set of data had the most

variability? B. How do you know?

A) Set BB) The higher the number, the greater the variation.
