Unit 6 – Designing Multimedia and graphics The design part must be done before any implementation. Structure of this section could be as follows. 1) Stimulus material. For each product show some products of a similar type that has given you some ideas. Show some research into the type of product and show your sources. Annotate these images. When you do your design work – reference back to these stimuli. Mark band 3 The candidate has produced designs for graphic products that are appropriate for the intended audience and sufficiently detailed to allow the designs to be implemented, and has presented A range of sources and stimulus materials for each element/product, clearly relating the sources to the designs.

Unit 6 – Designing Multimedia and graphics

The design part must be done before any implementation.

Structure of this section could be as follows.

1) Stimulus material. For each product show some products of a similar type that has given you some ideas. Show some research into the type of product and show your sources. Annotate these images. When you do your design work – reference back to these stimuli.

Mark band 3

The candidate has produced designs for graphicproducts that are appropriate for the intendedaudience and sufficiently detailed to allow thedesigns to be implemented, and has presentedA range of sources and stimulus materials foreach element/product, clearly relating thesources to the designs.

2) Design log for each product – INITIAL IDEASFor each product show your initial design ideas, annotated in detail – especially highlighting your design decisions and areas for further development and progression. Tell the story of your design development.

REMEMBER THESE ARE DESIGNS NOT ACTUAL PRODUCTS

Make sure on each design you have

1) Annotations of design decisions2) Extensive Feedback3) Where the design needs to be improved – i.e. what needs to further

developed

You can have multiple initial ideas for each item showing the progression.

Mark band 3 Clear evidence of their initial design ideas, illustrated the progression of their ideas, explained design decisions and identifiedcomponents required for furtherdevelopment.

3) Design log for each product. – FINAL DESIGN• Show your actual FINAL designs after extensive feedback. • Highlight the changes you have made from your initial designs. • Show the progression. • Explain design decisions along the way • What tools and techniques you are going to employ to create it.. • Annotate Annotate Annotate.• FINAL FEEDBACK for your design.

Unit 6 – Designing Multimedia and graphics

So to summarise

1) Stimulus• Analyse them• Ask yourself what are the designers trying to do• What do you like about it• What might you use• Conclusion – what have you gained overall from your research

2) Initial ideas• Detailed sketches with annotations – Explain design decisions• Refer back to stimulus• Feedback• Analyse feedback• Areas of improvement

3) Final Design• How did you get to your final design• Detailed design – explain design decisions• Final feedback• Final feedback Analysis• Tools and techniques.
