–They are followed by an infinitive form • I would like to speak German

CAN• First thing you must know is that – CAN is used in the present tense

• DON’T HAVE TO / DOESN’T HAVE TO… is used when there is no obligation – You don’t have to come to school on Sundays– She doesn’t have to answer that question
