Grammar: going to for plans and predictions

O Use going to + verb to describe plan or to make predictions based on evidence:

O Example: We’re going to have a party this weekend (plan)

O The sky is blue. It isn’t going to rain. ( predictions) .

Affirmative Negative Question /short answers

I’m going to win.

You aren’t going to win.

Are you going to win? Yes, I am. No, I’m not.

She’s going to have a party

He isn’t going to go.

Is she going to go? Yes, she is. No, she isn’t.

They aren’t going to arrive on time.

Grammar: Will, might and adverbs of possibility.

O Use adverbs of probability( definitely, probably, possibly) with will and won’t to make predictions. Adverbs of probability go after will but before won’t.

O Use might and might not to talk about possible future. Might means will possibly.

I’ll definitely study math at college.

They probably won’t get into college.

Will it rain later?Yes, it will. No, it won’t.

Grammar: first conditional

O The first conditional describes what will happen in future situations. The first conditional has two clauses.

O The if clause describes a possible situation, and the conditional clause describes the result of the situation.

O In the if clause, use a verb the present tense. In the conditional clause, use a verb in the future.
