Coaching Log – Athlete Observation
Date 15/12/2014
Location College
Strengths By observing my athletes performance using video analysis, this enabled me to select a range of different games to watch my athlete play in. This is helpful as by watching a variety of games I can judge his scores on a range of different performances, whereas if I watched one game live he may have had a poor game compared to usual.
Improvement Areas
As I only used video analysis taken from highlights of matches, I could not focus on Scott all of the time if he was out of sight of the camera, making it hard to judge his off ball positioning.
Points for future discussion
Next time I would back this up by watching my athlete perform live so I can focus on his game more and his off ball movement.
Possible actions arising
If I were to observe again I would watch my athlete perform against a higher level to further test his ability- Sussex.

Coaching Log – Athlete Profiling Meeting
Date 15/12/2014
Location College
Discussion points
Scott and I discussed points that are strengths and points that are weaknesses in his game. I then got Scott to fill out the Athlete Perceived Importance and Athlete Self-Assessment.
Concerns The only concern about the meeting is that it was very broad so not enough detail was given.
Points for future discussion
Allow the discussion to last longer so I can gain more information from Scott about his traits and allow him to concentrate more on his API and ASA.
Possible actions arising
At a future meeting I would give more time to allow Scott to fill out the API and ASA. If I had the meeting again I would bring evidence with me to back up my observation- video analysis.

Coaching Log – Coach Profile Meeting
Date 16/12/2014
Location College
Discussion points
We discussed the areas which we both felt Scott was good at and then the areas which we felt had room for improvement. The coach then filled out the scores he felt were right for the traits that Scott has.
Concerns There weren’t any concerns over the discussion I had with the coach over the actual meeting, however there were concerns over areas of Scotts performance.
Points for future discussion
In future discussion I would meet with the coach and bring the video analysis which I used to judge Scotts performance to find out if this is him playing well so I might have scored him too high for certain traits.
Possible actions arising
If I were to have the meeting again I would make sure I ask the coach for further information about these traits.
