Assignment 2: Rubrics

Introduction
This work corresponds to the second unit of the English Assessment subject. It consists on the creation, or adaptation, of two rubrics, one holistic and other analytic. Both rubrics evaluate the performance of students of a high-school located in Coronel. The tasks were planned according to Planes y Programas of second year high-school.

Lesson Aim: By the end of the class, students will be able to identify and describe
different technological devices.
Skill: Speaking
Task description: Students will listen to a history by the teacher talking about the
different types of devices. They will have to answer some simple questions about
the information and characteristics of the devices. Teacher will give the first
example.

Lesson Aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a short
paragraph using simple grammatical structures.
Skill: writing.
Task description: Students will select a famous chilean actor to write a mini-
biography of the chosen character in a paragraph. Students must include the
answers to the following questions:
When and where were He/She born?
Who was the most influential person to Him/Her as a child?
How many movies has He/She starred in?
What was His/Her most important role?
What are His/Her future aspirations?

GOOD: 3 ADEQUATE: 2 NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: 1
Content task oriented
Contents are relevant to the task. The student delivers all the information required.
The student covers most of the questions required; it does not affect the comprehension of the task.
Lack of some content and ideas, which affects the overall understanding of the text. Contains part of the required information.
The student does not cover the required information, which affects the understanding of the Text.
Vocabulary Student use a wide variety of vocabulary precisely and accurately; little to no repetition.
The student uses appropriate vocabulary though some repetition may occur.
Vocabulary is very limited with some second language interference.
Insufficient vocabulary, constant second language interference that make the writing difficult to understand.
Organization Paragraph is well organized, easy to follow.
Paragraph is organized well enough to be understood.

Grammar The student shows an excellent control of simple and elementary structures and verbs, very few errors.
