The Location Tree is made up of one or more Facilities and associated Departments and Locations. Following a Parent-Child relationship, each level of the Tree is linked to the level above:A. • OK: terminal server or STLB terminal is responding to network requests. IP Address with red background if the terminal server or STLB terminal failed to respond to a ping request on the network

• N/A: instrument communicates via a local serial COM port connection

• LIS Transfer• OK: last data transfer to the LIS was successful• FAIL: last data transfer to the LIS failed• Pending: data transfer to the LIS is still pending• N/A: there is no interface to the LIS

Common Dashboard LIS/Test Alarms

Alarm Type Description

Out-of-Range Result- LIS LIS Alarm is generated based on information returned from the LIS/HIS. Test result submitted is out of range (patient Action/Critical Range or QC Range)

Invalid Patient- LIS LIS Alarm is generated based on information returned from the LIS/HIS. Patient ID associated to test result was not accepted by LIS/HIS. Patient ID should be corrected and result resubmitted

Out-of-Range QC Test Alarm is generated based on the QC Range set at time of test. Alarm is created when the test result isuploaded

Out-of-Range Result Test Alarm is generated based on Action/Critical Range set at time of test. Alarm is created when the test result is uploaded

Test Rejected- LIS LIS Alarm is generated based on information returned from the LIS/HIS. Test result submitted was not accepted by the LIS/HIS

Common Dashboard Notification Alarms


New Reagent Lot New Alarm is generated when a new reagent lot is used. Alarm is created upon initial upload if the reagent lot is not currently listed

Expired Reagent Lot Lot Alarm is generated when a reagent lot used to run a test is past its expiration date. Alarm is createdbased on the expiration date entered

New Control Lot New Alarm is generated when a new control lot is used. Alarm is created upon initial upload if the control lotis not currently listed

Expired Control Lot Lot Alarm is generated when a QC lot used to run a test is past its expiration date. Alarm is created based onthe expiration date entered

System Alert Contact Siemens Support or No

Alert is set to “Contact Siemens Support” when UniPOC software requires service from Siemens. Please contact Siemens Support. Please note that System Alert applies to facilities only. Hence, the alert will be set only when a Facility is selected

Dashboard Operator Alarms


Expired Op. Certification Operator Alarm is generated when individual operator certification has expired for a specific instrument type. Alarm is generated on the day the certification status changes from ‘due to expire’ (Op Exp Warning) to ‘expired’ because the certification was not updated

New Operator Operator Alarm is generated when a test is completed using an Operator ID that is not listed (i.e. this can occur if glucose meter is set to Allow Test or Warn for the Operator Certification requirement). Alarm is created upon upload if the Operator ID is not currently on the Operator list

Operator Exp. Warning Operator Alarm is generated when individual Operator certification is due to expire for a specific instrument type. Alarm is generated based on Expiration Date Notification setting for Operator Certification under Administration > Facility Settings. Once the Operator is expired, the status changes from due to expire to expire, and an ‘Expired Op Certification’ alarm is created for this Operator

Dashboard Instrument Summary Alarms

Alarm Description

Not Connected Total number of unreachable terminals (IP address added to a location) via a ping command

Upload Required Total number of instruments that have exceeded the Meter Download Warning Interval defined under Facility Settingsand as such require upload (i.e. last instrument upload is older than the number of hours specified for the MeterDownload Warning)

Upload Location Warning Total number of instruments uploaded from a location other than their assigned home location

If there are unacknowledged alarms and user has permission to access linked screens, the Alarm Type will provide a hyperlink displaying further information for the selected alarm(s).

Enter Reagent Lot Information

1. Select Lots > Reagent2. Locate the desired lot code and select Edit

• If the lot code has not been recognized by the UniPOC software, users must select Add and manually enter the new lot code and reagent type

Instruments and the Location Tree

New Instruments:The first time a new instrument uploads data to the system the instrument serial number appears in the Tree under an instrument type icon in the Location from which the instrument was uploaded.

Instruments are grouped by Location.

Instruments can be moved to a different Location within the same Facility or a Location within a different Facility via drag and drop.1. Place the mouse cursor over the serial number or name2. Click and drag the instrument name to a new location

• The cursor appears as symbol3. When the cursor changes from to the instrument can be

moved to that location4. Release the mouse to display the instrument in its new location

Rename Instruments within the Location Tree

1. Select the desired instrument from the Tree2. Right click and select Rename Instrument

• Serial number or name text changes to an editable text box3. Type the new instrument name and click the mouse anywhere outside

the text box to display the new instrument name in the Tree4. To cancel the rename action, press Esc on the keyboard

Deactivate Instruments within the Location Tree

If a device is no longer required (ex. device out for repairs) it can be deactivated. • All data is retained in UniPOC database• Information is synchronized and can be restored after reactivating the

device1. Select the desired instrument from the Tree2. Right click and select Deactivate Instrument3. Select OK to deactivate the instrument

• The serial number or name text will now appear as italicized and greyed out in the Tree

Note: Re-docking the instrument will reactive the instrument. All test results will be accessible to users and operators.

Delete Instruments from the Location Tree

1. Select the instrument to delete from the Tree2. Right click and select Delete Instrument3. Select OK to delete the instrument

• Instrument is removed from the Tree

Note: If the instrument flagged as deleted uploads data at a later time, the instrument will reappear in the Tree in the location from which it was uploaded. The Instrument name and serial number are both saved in the database.

Enter Instrument Configurations

Instrument configuration, like the Location Tree, follows the Parent-Child Relationship. Settings saved at the top level of the Tree affect all sub-levels. • Select Instruments > Configuration• It is recommended that instrument configuration settings be

made at the Facility level when possible

Breaking the Parent-Child Relationship:• Saving instrument configuration for a lower level of the Tree

(i.e. Department or Location) will sever the relationship between the child and its parent level on the Tree

• Breaking the Parent-Child relationship is necessary to enable configuration settings different from the global Organization or Facility settings

• Once a location is disassociated from its parent location, any changes to instrument configuration will need to be made independent of the parent location

Define Instrument Comment Codes

Each Facility in the Organization maintains a separate list of user-defined comment codes. 1. Select Instruments > Comments2. Select a Facility name in the Tree3. Select an Instrument from the dropdown list4. Select Add5. Enter a Code number 0 to 99,999 and a Description

• Refer to manufacturer for number of digits required or used by device

• For reporting purposes only, instrument code list does not download to specified instrument

Note: If an undefined comment code is used on a device, the code will be automatically entered into the UniPOCdatabase. The description can then be entered by a UniPOC user with appropriate permissions.



Create UniPOC User Accounts

The New User screen allows the Administrator or POCC to add users to UniPOC software. A user is also granted permission to access locations, menu options and specific functions. 1. Select Administrative > User Setup2. Select New3. In the Identification section, enter First Name, Last Name,

Employee ID, User ID and any additional information4. Select the Domain from the dropdown list, if applicable

5. In the Permit Access to Locations section, select All, None or Selected to determine locations displayed in the Tree

• For Selected, select the + button to display associated Departments and Locations for the selected Facility

6. In the UniPOC Menu Permissions section, grant access to menu and sub-menu options

7. In the UniPOC Function Permissions section, grant access to specific functions in the system which correspond to Action Buttons

Manage UniPOC User Accounts

Note: A UniPOC user should be POC personnel utilizing the UniPOC software. Personnel operating POC instrumentation from a specific location are classified as Operators.

Manage Facility Settings

If more than one Facility exists within the Organization, each Facility must be configured separately.1. Select Administrative > Facility Settings2. Select a Facility name in the Tree3. Enter desired settings for the specified Facility

• Result Forwarding: forward test results to LIS/HIS or hold test results in queue, if applicable

• Expiration Date Notifications: number of days for advance warning notification• Performance Target Levels: establishes QC performance target levels used in

reports• Meter Download Warning: required number of hours allowed between

instrument uploads• Facility-Defined Review Comment: specify up to 10 Review comments to be

displayed in the Predefined Review Comment list of the Edit Result screen4. Select Save

Create Test Panels

Creating a test panel allows the user to view multiple analytes in a summary format via the Review Patient Results screen and are accessible to the entire Organization.1. Create a My View

My Views are customized views saved as links for quick viewing from the Dashboard. Creating a view saves the current table column configuration and search criteria. However, the date range filter and current Location Tree selection are not saved.1. Select Review > All Results2. Select desired Search Criteria options3. In the All Results table, select Customize to choose which

columns are displayed in the table4. Select Save to My Views 5. Enter a View Name6. Select Save

• The customized view now appears in the My Views section of the Dashboard
