1. INTRODUCTION
This design document is the Proof of Concept (PoC) test for using Comba DAS WiFi AP to provide WiFi coverage in
selected area in Union Cooperative (Etihad Mall) in Al Khawaneej Road, Muhaisnah 1, Dubai, UAE. Using the
same passive DAS system, DAS WiFi AP can deploy quick and easily. Two DAS WiFi APs are proposed in this PoC
to cover a portion of G/F near the coffee shops and hypermarket. The coverage of the 2 APs are continuous and
roaming of clients between APs can be tested under the PoC.

3. DESIGN OVERVIEW AND SECTORIZATION
2 DAS WiFi APs (AP2400-I) are proposed for this PoC. Both are put in the riser location so that opening the ceiling to touch the DAS system is not required. AP2400-I is a SISO WiFi AP specially designed to be used in cellular network DAS system. AP2400-I works in 2.4GHz band with maximum transmit power 500mW. WiFi signal and 2/3G signal are combined by a diplexer with 70dB isolation between WiFi and cellular bands.
An 8-ports PoE Switch is put together with AP2400-I at riser location. The PoE switch provide both power and data connectivity to AP2400-I. At the other end, PoE switch connect to access controller AC2400. As the distance between the AP/PoE location and AC2400 location will exceed Ethernet Cable limit (100m), optical fiber is used in this connection. Comba WiFi Access Controller AC2400 manages all Comba AP and support client roaming between APs to keep all user session. The other end of AC2400 connects to Etisalat backend network for user login capital portal, authentication. All user traffic is flows through AP2400-I, AC2400 and Etisalat Backend network to Internet.
3.1 RF DESIGN CRITERIA:
Indoor Coverage Rxlev not lower than -65dBm (WiFi).
WiFi Tx Power as antenna > 10dBm.
Detail design schematic, layout and link budget calculation to refer to section 6-8 in this document.
3.2 CO-EXISTENCE OF 2.4GHZ WIFI AND CELLULAR NETWORK
Diplexer are used to combine the WiFi signal and cellular system signal.
Insertion Lost: 0.6dB
Isolation between 2G/3G with WiFi : > 70dB

11. THROUGHPUT SIMULATION RESULT
Please note that 1) Below simulation assuming clear environment (without interference) which will not be realistic in the real
deployment environment. 2) Data rate is in 802.11n/g physical layer only. The measured TCP/IP throughput will be 35-40% of it only. 3) WiFi is working in unlicensed band and all APs in the same location is sharing the radio frequency time
domain.
