New for 2021/22At Heron Hall Academy we are very proud of how smart our pupils look when they wear our uniform. We are very pleased to announce that with the support of our Trust we have been able to secure a number of uniform items at a significantly lower cost. We understand how important it is at this time to keep the cost of school uniform items as low as possible.
These items include:
4 New lower priced blazer at £33.99, a huge saving of 52%.
4 Full new PE kit, with savings of £25.00.
The blazer has exactly the same appearance as the current uniform, but is made with different material and is still of an excellent quality. We have listened to families and the blazer is now machine washable instead of dry clean only. The PE kit remains black and red and has some slight design changes to the red stripes. You can continue to use the existing kit.
Years 8-11 can continue to wear their current uniform. When replacement items are needed the new, reduced cost uniform can be purchased from our suppliers as and when required. The current higher cost uniform will be phased out as items are replaced and as the children grow.
As well as Smiths Schoolwear, we are delighted to have added a new local supplier Uniform4kids (Lyons school shop) located at 242 Hertford Road, EN3 5BL. Uniform can be pre-ordered from Uniform4kids.
4 Both official suppliers offer a 10% discount on purchases over £100 made before the 31st July in store.
4 Payment plans options are also available if required. Please ask in store for more information.

Blazers and JumpersA school grey blazer must be worn at all times around the school building. The blazer must have the school badge on the breast pocket.
4 Jumpers should be plain grey V-neck.
4 Round-neck jumpers or sweat shirts are not allowed.
4 No logos.
4 A jumper cannot be worn instead of a blazer.
Shirts4 Plain white. No sports shirts allowed.
4 Shirt has top button done up and must be tucked inside trousers/skirts at all times.
4 Plain white shirts can be purchased from high street stores or the official uniform suppliers.

TrousersPlain grey, straight cut, medium width, regular fit or pleated; may have turn-ups; shoe length. Heron Hall uniform male and female trousers can be brought from the official uniform suppliers shops. School trousers from other high street shops are accepted as long as the fit is as below and the shade of grey is the same as the school blazer.
Examples of acceptable trousers:
This DOES NOT include any of the following: denim trousers, trousers with rivets, trousers with a low waist, trousers made of any stretchy material, trousers that are tight below the knee, skinny style trousers, trousers made of any fabric other than standard school trouser fabric, leggings / jeggings, thick tights used as trousers, trousers that are not full length.

Skirts4 Plain grey or black, ‘A’ line style, no split, may include a fan pleat; or fully pleated. No Lycra.
4 Skirt length on or below the knee.
4 Heron Hall uniform skirts can be brought from the official uniform suppliers. School skirts in the styles below from high street stores are accepted as long as the fit is as below and the same shade of grey as the school blazer.
4 The grey special length skirt is a made-to-order garment that can be ordered in the official uniform suppliers only.
4 Plain grey or black socks may be worn (Patterned socks are not acceptable).
4 Students may wear plain grey, opaque or flesh coloured tights. Patterned tights and leg warmers are not acceptable.
4 Students are allowed to wear socks that are calf length (below the knee) These socks must be grey.
4 No ankle socks.

School Tie4 A white school shirt must be worn fully buttoned to the neck, along with a correct positioned school tie.
4 The tie must be worn with at least 4 grey/red stripes long.

All students MUST wear astro trainers during PE lessons on the astro pitch. These can be purchased at the uniform shop or other sports clothing outlets. Pupils will not be allowed on the astro pitch in normal trainers.

ShoesThe only acceptable school shoes at Heron Hall High School are:
Plain grey flat leather polishable sensible shoes (not boots, plimsolls or trainers) with no coloured trim, laces or contrasting stitching.
The examples of footwear below are unacceptable as shoes for school, this includes Nike Air Forces, Converse, Vans (including leather Vans and Converse) grey trainers and boots.

Coats4 Sensible school coat in a dark colour must be worn.
4 No leather or denim jackets.
4 No t-shirts, tracksuit tops or cardigans.
4 No hoodies allowed at any time.
Should be an appropriate size for school books (up to A4 size) and equipment. i.e. Rucksack or messenger bag style.
School Bags
No small bags or handbags allowed.
4 No hats to be worn in the building at any time.
4 Woolen or fleece hats allowed in the playground during winter.
4 No caps at any time.
4 Phones and headphones should not be visible during the school day.
Hats & Accessories

PiercingsFacial, body piercings and stretchers are not allowed and the wearing of any facial or body piercing jewellery is not acceptable anywhere on the school premises for health and safety reasons.

Tattoos4 No Tattoos.
4 Existing tattoos must be completely covered up.

Jewellery and HairJewellery:
4 1 pair of plain gold or silver-coloured ear studs or one single stud.
4 Necklaces must be underneath the school shirt.
Hair:
4 We expect hairstyles suitable for the school environment.
4 Only black, brown or blonde dyed hair is acceptable.
4 No other dyed colours or streaks are acceptable.
4 Tramlines and shaved head designs are not acceptable.
4 No slits shaved in eyebrows.
4 Hair extensions/braids must be in natural hair colours.

Makeup and Nails4 Make up should not be worn at all.
4 Coloured nail varnish, false nails and false eyelashes are not permitted.
4 Clear nail varnish may be worn.
Hair Bands and Bobbles4 Hair bands, scrunchies, bobbles and headscarves must be black, grey or white.
4 Head bands and ties are not permitted.
4 Head scarves must be worn properly and not as a fashion accessory, they also need to be neat and tied.
Belts4 Belts must be plain grey or black with a small buckle.

Uniform SuppliersStandard school trousers, skirts and shirts from other shops e.g. high street stores are accepted as long as the fit and colour is as stated in this policy and the shade of grey is the same as the school blazer.

Sanctions
Any pupil who is not following the schools uniform rules will be sent home to change. Students who are wearing make up, false eye lashes or nails will be asked to remove them.
Students who do not bring their PE kit on the day of PE lessons will be given an after-school detention.
