Korea’s garment industry has since 1960s and has outstanding dexterity in production and passion to achieve the goals. It has leaded high quality garment industry to meet with clients’ requirement.

Based on their own experience, Korea has advances in other countries – China, Vietnam, Bangladesh and other southeast area – to manage and initiate garment skills to people as cooperation in countries.

Started in China, 1996 as a manufacturing factory, it was founded by one person, president Mr. Youn in the city of Dandong, China: 3hours from Dairian, border of China and North Korea. Over the next 16 years, our headquarter office has been opened in Seoul, Korea and another factory has been opened in Vietnam. Dandong, China, the original apparel facility and Vietnam facility were further expanded to Development Center to reach out and provide better service to our clients.

Our headquarter office was established in Korea, 2005 with trust of our clients, strength of our capable clients, and our strong business concept. Then we expanded our sales teams to both Korea and Vietnam to support our clients closely and make better performances.

The Countrywhere the most patient people livingon earth. The Vietnam apparel industry has excellent skills and needle work. After Vietnam

joined the WTO on Jan. 2007, the key products has become different between North and South Vietnam. The North Vietnam becomes famous for the active woven wear, casual wear , formal wear, shirts and uniforms. In the other hand, South Vietnam is popular for circular knits.

Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports have continued to surge. For example, Vietnam’s meteoric rise now ranks it as the second largest supplier of textiles and apparel to the U.S. market. Since 2007, Vietnam’s total textile and apparel exports to the U.S. have doubled. Vietnam is currently responsible for 11.5% of all U.S. apparel imports.

This untiring people is working today to be the most advanced country in Southeast Asia.

Established in 2007 with the trust of our clients, the strength of our capable clients and strong business concepts. It is located in Bac Giang province, one hour and 20 minutes away from Hanoi city. Bac Giang is well known area where skillful people work for garment industry in Vietnam.

As our business concept, we also set sales team on site to support and to make better performance when the UNICO VN opened. UNICO VN sales team was created by the passionate multiple key players with successful career background. Their wills to embrace and challenge new ideas started UNICO and that’s what has driven UNICO. One of the big advantages of apparel sourcing from Vietnam is the wide rage of production which allows the mid market to produce high level products. UNICO focuses not only the high technical garment but also other outerwear such as soft woven jackets, bottoms, and shirts.

UV sales team is focusing on 2 key product categories: technical apparel and casual apparel.

UNICO VN invested the Development Center with in-house facilities in pattern making, e-pattern, pattern body form and a sample room to meet our clients’ needs. Technical apparel category is working with own DD team to support our all technical clients. This team sources, develops and presents the Direct Develop samples with high level techniques in time to our customers.

The other casual apparel category also works with own DD team and other capacity partners to source, develop and present in time for casual product range at a regular interval. To cover our large volume of samples from current to potential clients, we forecast the development volume and expand it every season.

UNICO VN has a lab to test garments to catch technical issues such as down leakage, material durability, seam sealing quality, and so on through whole stage from development to in-line production.

Unico Global has increased volume since 2005 when Dandong Unico was established. Especially volume jumped up in 2007 after Unico VN started line operation. And Unico VN has expanded lines annually.

2nd building –workshop B was built in 2008 and it brought us to volume 40~41M.

3rd building-workshop C built in 2010, Unico VN obtained storages to keep materials and garments. It caused expansion of sewing lines of Workshop A & B.

Workshop D in 4th building was built in May 2011 with Gore-Tex line.

Finally Unico Global reached 100M in 2013 and is preparing next steps with new factory.

Unico Vietnam company was established in 2007 with trust of our clients and strong business concepts.

Starting from 8 lines in 2007, finally we reached 45 lines with approximately 3,200 workers in the middle of 2013. Also we’ve got the license as a Gore-Tex manufacturer since2009.

Unico VN produces several types of garment: Gore-Tex, down products, seam sealing & welding products with laser cut. We study all orders and segregates garment groups as A, B, C, C-Gore, D, G to allocate to optimized line based on each line’s ability and history. This basic procedure makes our productivity and quality maximized and reduce unnecessary loss in production lines.

DECISIONSUNICO has been searching for the suitable location to support our clients’ businesses with plenty

of capacity since 2012. Finally, Yen Bai area was selected out of 7 candidate areas where satisfying the important matters related to human resource, transportation, labor cost

competitiveness, support of VN government, environment, and landscape.

.Decision for Future

NEEDS

UNICO has been facing the lack of capacity since 2013. It wasn’t enough to contain all clients’ order although 47~50 lines were fully running last year. Our current and potential clients requested us increased capacity to fully satisfy their orders.

LIMITS

UNICO reached $100M, the 1st step for future, in 2013 and targeted $125M in 2014. However current capacity has limits against further grow unless going for sub-contracting which would be hard to contain the high quality we’ve provided and it cannot be an option for us. So another option has been required for 2nd step.

MOVEMENTS

The direction of increasing brands’ production bases is moving to Vietnam following Vietnam’s lower CM than China. UNICO came down to a decision to move from China to Vietnam since China’s labor cost has been raising rapidly and Vietnam’s production technique level has been catching up China’s.

About Yen Bai RegionHighway connecting China and Hanoi is now opened to public and it passes the Yen Bai directly. Yen Bai is located 1.5 hours from Hanoi City and 4 hours from Hai Phong , the main port in Northern Vietnam.

There are approximately 2,500 residents who are potential and skillful sewing operators living in Yen Bai and they mostly commute to other areas for work since the major industry in Yen Bai is limited to green tea cultivation and marbles. Currently there is no garment factories in Yen Bai and Unico Global VN’s 2nd factory will be the first garment factory in this area.
