* Lambda of Methylal and Methyl Formate are similar to water blown
* High applied density
for water blown
* HC has the best compromise of performance
4
HFOs System with High Water Content versus Full Water Blown
HFOs
*Lower molded density versus H2O blown
* Lambda improvement
versus H2O blown
* Cost reduction in combination with high
water content

Final Remarks • Hydrocarbon Technology , traditionaly used in the market, is a feasible alternative for
HFCs, apart from heavy investment for conversion
• Water Blown or WB combined wtih HFOs can replace HFCs in cases where lambda is not so critical. Balanced levels of HFOs can meet Hydrocarbons performance
• Methylal and Mehtyl Formate are flammable , but with very small concentration they could be used to reduce molded density in water blown systems, in cases where lambda is not so critical. Corrosion must be addressed if Methyl Formate is the option
• HFOs represent a feasible technical alternative to address HFCs replacement with advantages in lambda and molded density
• HFOs are liquid and non flammble, requiring almost no investiment for HFCs conversion
• HFOs represent a heavy penalty in foam costs that can be minimized with lower concentration in the foam composition
• Shelf lije stability for fully formulated polyols contaning HCFO must be improved
• Product availability is still limited for HFOs

Blowing Agents (BAs) Evolution
* The evolution of BAs technologies, driven by regulation and market trends moved far from 1st generation BAs (CFCs) * Uses of Gen 1 and 2 is regulated by Montreal protocol (Ozone Depletion Potential , ODP) * HFCs high Global Warming Potential (GWP) substances are currently not regulated. However, market trends indicate that they will probably be regulated in the future. * On top of Hydrocarbons (HC) and water, HFO Gen 4, Hydrofluoroolefins will represent a viable Low GWP alternative to HFCs
