He is the co-author of Connecticut Foreclosures: An Attorney's Manual of Practice and Procedure (The Connecticut Law Tribune Company, 6th ed. 2016). He is also a contributing author to Dunaway, The Law of Distressed Real Property (Clark-Board- man-Callahan). He has served as an advisor to the Connecticut Law Revision Commission and to the Office of Legislative Research, and is a frequent lecturer at seminars on a variety of real property topics given by the Connecticut Bar Associ- ation and private organizations. Denis is a graduate of St. Anselm College and The University of Connecticut School of Law. He is an elected fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Barbara C. Smith, VP/Counsel | 860-290-5385 | [email protected] has over thirty years’ experience in commercial and residential real estate transactions, focusing on complex commer-cial and residential title examinations both in private practice and in the title insurance industry.

She is admitted to the Connecticut Bar, and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the New England Land Title Association. She is also a member of the Board of Director’s of NELTA. She co-presented The Title Search: What You Need to Know for Continuing Legal Education through the Connecticut Bar Association. Barbara has taught real estate law to Connecti-cut real estate agents and brokers through the Office of Continuing Education at the University of Connecticut.

Prior to that, he engaged in the private practice of law for eighteen years, which included a heavy emphasis on real estate and related issues. He received his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk Law School and his Bachelor’s Degree from Providence College and has been a member of the Connecticut Bar since 1971. Tom is a former Town Counsel for the Town of Hebron as well as a former member of the Hebron Board of Assessment Appeals. He is also a former President of the Connecticut Title Association, and is presently a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut, for which he serves on the Family Support Committee, and conducts a required program on Wills for the new homeowners.

Edward M. Rosenblatt, VP/Counsel | 860-290-8526 | [email protected]’s responsibilities include title insurance underwriting, claims, release tracking management and attention to legal issues for both commercial and residential matters. He has been in the title insurance industry since 2003. Prior to that, he was in private practice for 23 years in all aspects of real estate law and related litigation. He attended law school at the University of Connecticut. Ed is past Chair of the Executive Committee of the Real Property Section of the CBA and Executive Committee member since 1987. He is currently chair of the Real Property Section’s committee on the residen-tial real estate certification and serves on the Section’s legislative committee.

Franklin Melzer, VP/Counsel | 203-653-3106 | [email protected] was admitted to practice in 1961 and for the past 55 years he has specialized in real estate law. He has been in the Title Insurance industry the past 15 years. He graduated from New York Law School, where he was valedictorian and managing editor of the law review. He was also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Bridgeport teaching real estate paralegals.
