BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE UNIT
This unit aims to provide learners an understanding of how to support individuals that are experiencing significant life events.
INTRODUCTION
There are nine assessment criteria in this unit and ALL must be answered appropriately in order to achieve a pass grade.The Learning Outcome is divided
into three and each has three assessment criteria in it

LO1: Understand how significant life events impact on individuals and their social networks (Three assessment criteria to be met here )
1.1: Explain the impact of significant lifeevents on individuals 1.2: Analyse possible group responses to significant life
events that occur to one of its members 1.3: Analyse the impact for others inhealth and social care
when an individual experiences significant life events.

What is Life Event and its significance?Life eventsAny major change in person's circumstances that affects:
interpersonal relationships, leisure recreational activitiesJob and so on.

• Life Events can be usual, i.e not unexpected and therefore not evoking stress, or unusual–i.e, unexpected and commonly associated with stress. for example: death of spouse, job loss, natural disaster, financial loss and so on
These events may become significant when it has great impact on the individuals concerned.

What is Life Events and its significance?
Impact'Impact' is the amount of effect that live event has on individuals and the way they respond to it.
Groups'Groups' This refers to all those that are responsible for supporting and improving the well-being of individuals, who are experiencing significant life events.
This list include but not limited to: Families, friends, communities, care service providers, care workers, Occupational Therapists, agencies and Voluntary Organisations, religious groups, Grant-Making Charities, Hospices and others.
