• An Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) or test plan is a document detailing a sstematic approach totesting a sstem or product ,e.g. material- component- machine- pac#age- software- etc such as avisual inspection- dimension inspection- welding inspection- function test- factor acceptance test-etc. and participation of all parties.

• A Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) generall involves a process for re/ection until improvementshave %een made. This discussion is outside the scope of this presentation.

• QA is process oriented Activit while Q" is product 0riented Activit

• QA is an proactive activit and is done %efore the product is manufactured or services are delivered.

ITP

Purpose• The purpose of an Inspection and Test Plan is to put together a single document that records all

inspection and testing re'uirements relevant to a specic process.

Why do we need to make a test plan?•1uarantee the product 'ualit and ensure the product function achieved the re'uirement of design.•I!0 233456337 "lause 8.9.: ;erication of purchased product re'uires that the organi&ation shallesta%lish and implement the inspection or other activities necessar for ensuring that purchased productmeets specied purchase re'uirements.•)here the organi&ation or its customer intends to perform verication at the supplier$s premises- theorgani&ation shall state the intended verication arrangements and method of product release in thepurchasing information.



What does the ITP Deliver?

• Inspection and Test Plans- when properl implemented- help ensure that- and verif whether- wor#has %een underta#en to the re'uired standard and re'uirements- and that records are #ept.

• An Inspection and Test Plan identies the following5

Inspection and Test Plans

Before commencement of wor# including site wor#- "ontractors or !u%contractors shall suppl ITPsfor their scope of wor# for approval and shall incorporate the elements of ITP 1uidelines as aminimum and shall form a re'uirement of the purchase order. All ITPs shall %e technicall reviewed

% the appropriate engineer and 'ualit o?cer and approved % the Pro/ect @anager.

Alstom could approve appoint a third part agenc for ta#ing responsi%ilit for ensuring purchasedproduct or services meet the specied re'uirements. In that conte(t the appointed organi&ation

which is usuall a TPI will have to review and approve the ITP su%mitted % the contractors or su%contractors.

Preparing ITP. guideline

%e created new. Test methods alsospecif test e'uipment to %e used in theperformance of the tests and esta%lishpass*fail criteria.

Test responsiilities include whatorgani&ations will perform the testmethods and at each stage of the productlife. This allows test organi&ations to plan-ac'uire or develop test e'uipment and

other resources necessar to implementthe test methods for which the areresponsi%le.

production. The client can waive this inspection %ased on its discretion and inform the TPI Inspector.

• !pot )itness ,!)5 for items with spot witness- the manufacturer shall notif the TPI inspector as fullling

the monitoring. or e(ample one random visit for all of the UT Tests or one or two visits for whole surfacepreparation wor# for painting.
