Allows greater flexibility through the Foundation High School Program (FHSP) with endorsements

Reduces EOC requirements:Algebra 1, Biology, US History, English 1 (Reading & Writing), & English 2 (Reading & Writing)

Students currently in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade may graduate on the graduation plans now in place (RHSP, DAP) or may choose the FHSP.

Students entering high school is 2014-2015 are required to be on the new Foundations plans.

The current plans will be phased out over time.

With few exceptions, ALL students will be required to earn an endorsement in one of the following areas:

Endorsement details will be finalized by the end of the 2013-2014 school year

Students must complete all required coursework in order to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Students must also pass the Exit Level TAKS or STAAR requirements to receive a diploma.

You cannot ask for the grade once this has been applied for and accepted

You will receive grades on progress reports and report cards for eligibility purposes

Students ranking in the top 10% of their class are automatically admitted to any public university in Texas ( UT’s cap is 7%)

Complete application requirements by the university’s deadline

Enroll in college no more than two years after graduating from high school

Early Decision – A binding commitment to attend the college if you are accepted.

Early Action/Notification – Simply applying early so you will receive acceptance notification early – no commitment to attend.

Rolling Admission – Apply and usually receive an admission decision within four to six weeks

Generally recommended that students apply to 3 – 5 colleges.

Select a “dream” (reach) school that may be a stretch.

Select at least one ( safe) “sure thing”. Select 2 – 3 schools in between. A college should fit the student academically,

personally, and socially. Be realistic!Ideally, have all applications completed by Thanksgiving

Students who think they might want to join NHS should start planning for it now

Students can apply for NHS in 10th grade (second semester) They can also apply as juniors and seniors

They must have a 4.0 GPA, less than 2 Saturday classes, and all the required leadership and service points
