The Undersized Training

The undersized secrets training is very simple:

As an undersized player, there are specific qualities you need in your game:

- Lightning quick, ball-on-a-string handles- Automatic jump shot and fadeaway jumper- Automatic midrange pullup- Quick scoring moves- Tireless conditioning

So we’ve devised 3 specific drills to get you there:

1. The Guard Gauntlet2. The Undersized Combos3. The Beast Complex

Each of these drills are demonstrated in the accompanying DVD.

You’re going to do ONE of these drills each day, at the END of your skill workout, as a “finisher.”

It doesn’t matter which one you choose on each day, as long as you do each of them of once per week.

This way, you’ll automatically ingrain all of the specific “undersized” player skills into your game.

Here’s a sample schedule:

Monday: Skill workout + Guard Gauntlet finisher

Page 3: Undersized Secrets PDF

Tuesday: Skill workout + Undersized CombosWednesday: OFFThursday: Skill workout + Beast ComplexFriday: OFFSaturday: Skill workout + scrimmageSunday: OFFVery simple concept – do each of them once per week. Doesn’t matter how you arrange it, just make sure you GET THEM DONE.

Cool?

Cool.

Here are the drills:

The Guard Gauntlet

*Demonstrated in the accompanying DVD.

Start at the baseline, under the hoop, with TWO basketballs.

Perform two ball pounds moving forwards, all the way to the free throw line. When you reach the free throw line, perform two ball pounds backwards until you reach the baseline again.

Drop one ball, and perform cross-betweens until you reach halfway between the baseline and three-point line. When you reach halfway, change hands and perform cross-betweens through your other leg until you reach the three point line.

When you reach the three point line, explode as fast as you can to the half court mark. Turn quickly, and explode all the way to the three point line. This is all done at top speed, pushing each dribble out in front of you.

When you reach the three point line, slow down and change pace before crossing over to the other hand.

Explode all the way to the hoop off of your crossover, and finish with a layup or dunk.

Without resting, repeat the sequence finishing with your other hand. Do two finishes with each hand for 4 total reps each set.

Shoot 10 free throws to rest in between sets. Perform this sequence for 3 total sets of 4 finishes (10 free throws between each). When you’re done, you’ll have done 12 total finishes and will have shot 30 free throws.

The Undersized Combos

*Demonstrated in the accompanying DVD.

Start on the right wing, with one ball in your left hand.

The first combo you’ll perform is a throw across from left to right, followed by a spin move towards the middle of the key, finishing with a left hand float shot.

Repeat on the other wing with your other hand.

Without resting, go back to the right wing. Start with the ball in your right hand.

Perform a crossover-between the legs – behind the back triple cross, then take one hard dribble at the free throw line, and shoot a pullup fadeaway in the key.

Repeat on the other wing starting with the ball in your other hand.

Without resting, return to the right wing and start with the ball in your right hand, facing the right corner (body angle at 45 degrees).

Take 10 hard pound dribbles with your right hand, looking right, then move into a look-off crossover and drive through the lane. Finish on the other side of the rim with a half-reverse layup.

Repeat on the other wing finishing with your other hand.

When you’re done all 6 finishes (no rest between), shoot 10 free throws. Perform this series for 3 total sets of 6 finishes with 10 free throws between each set. When you’re done, you’ll have done 18 total finishes and will have shot 30 free throws.

The Beast Series

*Demonstrated in the accompanying DVD.

Start on the baseline, in the middle of the key.

Perform the two-step quick feet drill for 30 reps.

Without resting, move to the right side of the key.

Perform 30 line-to-line lateral slides.

Without resting, grab a basketball and perform as many ball pushups as you can. If you reach 25 pushups, stop – do not perform more than 25.

When you’re done, without resting, grab another ball and perform 100 two ball pounds as hard and fast as you can.

Only perform one set of this beast complex, right at the end of your workout as a “finisher”.

More advanced players who can complete ALL pushup reps should progress to doing two rounds of this circuit, with 20 free throws between rounds for rest.

Beast Mode.

If you’re an undersized player, you need to be a beast.

No two ways around it.

You can never get tired... Never lose the ball… Never let your man go by you on defense… Never miss an open jumper.

This training (along with your regular scheduled workouts) will get you to that level: Where you can absolutely DOMINATE as an undersized player.

Chris Paul does it. Deron Williams does it. And we all know Derek Rose does it.

It’s possible, and you can do it too. Get into beast mode and take over.

I’m here for you every step of the way.

Your coach,

Taylor Allan
