Practice Makes Perfect

Learn by Serving

Leave the classroom and get hands-on experience. That’s how you learn most effectively.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities ProgramOur rigorous Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) can apprentice you to one of our renowned research faculty. Moreover, students can engage in research at leading institutions elsewhere, such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, CERN, or Princeton.

Learn by CompetitionOur students love competitions. Being challenged with real-life situations, HKUST teams frequently win international case competitions.

We serve. We learn. We connect.

HKUST Service Learning Day is an annual 4-day event when over 1,000 students, faculty, staff and their family members dedicate to community service.

HKUST Connect brings together civic-minded students to initiate service learning projects that address genuine community needs, at the same time motivating and leading fellow students to serve the wider community.

“At UROP, I can get a lot of satisfaction knowing I am contributing to make the world a better place. Apart from learning and research, you also develop a lifelong friendship with the faculty, who supports you in every endeavor.”

LIU Yuan, China

Bsc in Chemistry (Class of 2015)
