UNDAF Info history• Discussions going on since 2004• Special case of a general need to overlay monitoring

framework on top of indicator database – planned vs actual, link indicators t to results in matrix

• UNDG asked (Oct 6 2010) for:• The piloting and fine-tuning of a new DevInfo module

(UNDAFInfo) to assist UN Country Teams and national partners in monitoring UNDAF, in line with the commitment under the new UNDG Strategic Priorities to enhance the quality of UNDAFs and strengthen accountability for results (led by UNICEF).

Feedback

• National pilot users saw merit in the tool but stressed that implementation has to be easy – implies strong support options needed

• Potentially useful tool for knowledge sharing between agencies within countries and also for sharing results matrices between countries

• Concern not to appear to mandate a ‘heavy’ approach to UNDAFs

• Global monitoring of adherence to principles and coherence through this tool very challenging

Recommendation

• More than 20 countries have expressed interest in national monitoring component of UNDAF Info

• UNDAF Programming Network may consider asking DOCO to support UNDAF Info implementation on a voluntary basis as part of its work program
