LIMA

the city, in Lima suburbs and opposite
to the sea, impressive archeological

Bridge of Sighs
Built in 1876, it was an essential need
to allow the pass of banks in
Ayacucho and Erinita streets.
Cathedral of Lima
It is now in the same place where the
first major church in Lima was
located and showcases historical
jewels and religious art.
Main Square
A majestic 17th-century fountain
stands in the middle of what was once
the downtown of the old colonial city.
The Cathedral of Lima, the
Government Palace and the Lima City
Hall all surround it.
DINING
Due to its proximity to the sea, the
main dishes of Lima revolve around
seafood. Other well-known dishes of
Lima are Cau Cau, Anticuchos
(brochettes made with marinated beef
hearts) and Aji de Gallina. There are
also typical desserts such as
Mazamorra Morada, Picarones,
Suspiro a la Limeña, Arroz con Leche
and Turron de Doña Pepa. Refreshing
drinks include Chicha Morada and the
Pisco Sour, the famous aperitif made
of Peruvian pisco, lemon and sugar.
CLIMATE
The Peruvian coast is a large desert
leaning on the mountains. The
presence of the Andes, together with
the cold Humboldt Current in its
beaches, make this zone arid and dry.
