JFC-UA Mission and Intent

Mission: JFC-UA supports the United States Agency of International Development (USAID) in

Liberia to assist the U.S Government’s Foreign Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Relief

(FHA/DR) efforts to contain the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) IOT prevent EVD from spreading outside

of the region, alleviate human suffering, and promote internal and regional stability. O/O transition

the Joint Force Command (JFC) to designated entities.

Purpose: The purpose of this operation is to support the USG’s EVD response effort to increase

the ability and capacity of the Government of Liberia (GoL) to educate and care for their citizens

and create conditions for the GoL and other stakeholders to assume responsibility for a

sustainable EVD response.

Key Tasks:

•Enforce force health protection measures to prevent US personnel in Liberia from becoming

exposed to EVD and other infectious diseases.

•Train sufficient Health Care Workers to operate Ebola Treatment Units.

•Provide oversight of construction and resupply of up to 19 Ebola Treatment Units.

•Operate Army Labs to conduct blood sample testing to reduce testing result times of EVD samples.

•Transition support activities to designated entities and redeploy.

Endstate: Conditions are set for USG agencies, host nation, or international organizations to

manage Liberian EVD response and to transition all support activities to designated entities.
