Narrated Abu Musa RA, The Prophet SAW said, “Every Muslim has to give in charity,” The people asked, “O Allah’s Prophet! If someone has nothing to give, what will he do?” He SAW said, “He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what

Religious Education - Madrassah Program

Imam Hussein Kassim on an inspection tour of the madrassah in Kisumu. He is incharge of the Madrassah Program and makes frequent visits to the Madrassahs for monitoring and evaluation purposes. The Imam also conducts school spiritual programs on every Sunday. Some of the schools that he visited are Lenana, Alliance Boys and Girls and

Nairobi School.

Prince Kassim Nakibinge of Buganda Kingdom had the honour to visit one of our Madrassahs and with him is the Executive Officer of Ummah Foundation –Uganda Office Brother Muhammad Katotto , Brother Zool Nimji, the Secretary General of Ummah Foundation and the Maalim of the Madrassa. The pupils were examined by the Prince in various fields of their studies. Ummah Foundation runs five Madrassahs in Magadi,

Kisumu, Gilgil, Nakuru and Maili Tisa in Namanga.

Religious education has been lacking behind for reasons well known though no Organisation has taken the initiative to correct the situation. Ummah Foundation took the onus of initiating the Madrassah Program so that Religious Education can be given just much honour and respect like the secular education. Over the years teachers of these Madrassahs have been taken through a formal training that captures issues of child psychology, teaching methodologies and curriculum development. Results have been noticed in the Madrassahs where this system is being implemented.
